Insider Trader: Cooking, the final stretch

Cooking is a secondary tradeskill that most players should strongly consider learning, and maximizing. The buffs that many of the foods award can be quite helpful, and aside from damage buffs, there are also healing buffs, tank buffs, and food for hunter and warlock pets, among other yummy treats. If you rely on purchasing the foods from the auction house, you'll find your consumables bill soaring upward.

You can also make a profit from cooking, especially regarding pet food. Because many players are stubborn and won't learn any of the secondary skills, you can sell your dishes for a hefty price.

Still, if you don't fall madly in love with cooking, searching high and low for the latest recipe and farming to your favorite tunes, then you might have some trouble and confusion when trying to reach 375. This week, Insider Trader will take an in-depth look at the easiest path to cooking 375, avoiding fishing altogether. Although they go hand-in-hand, they can be done separately, and many cooks do not want to become fishermen.

World of WarCrafts: Kibler's Bits

Every Wednesday World of WarCrafts features a recipe or craft that teaches you how to make own real life version of in-game recipes and items. This week I am posing as Maureen, who's out sick. Hope you get better soon!

The previous articles have done a great job providing nourishment, refreshment, and personal hygiene for all of the WoW players out there. But what about their real life pets? ...What? You know, those things close to the floor that look at you with big eyes, begging for your attention. "Just one more BG." you tell them. As a noob hunter with 1 cat in game and 2 of them fighting for lap space irl, this week I give you Kibler's Bits!

Kibler's Bits
1 Buzzard Meat, Boneless
1/8 cup Kitty Crunchies
1/8 cup of Canned Pumpkin
6 inch by 6 inch Waxed Paper

Mix the Buzzard Meat, Kitty Crunchies, and Canned Pumpkin in a small bowl. Place mixture in the center of the Waxed Paper. Use one side of the Waxed Paper to cover and then proceed to roll it up. Twist the ends. Freeze for 1 hour or until firm (not frozen). Cut in half to serve. Makes 2 tasty treats.

Substitutions: If you're all out of buzzard, chicken nuggets or meatless chick'n nuggets work great. Those kitties on special diets won't know the difference if weight-loss or anti-hairball cat food is mixed in.

Enjoy!

PTR Patch notes for Sunday, Nov. 4

WorldofRaids is reporting today on a couple significant changes in the most recent patch uploaded to the PTR. First and foremost, a major change to the guild bank system. Earlier we let you know that it would cost mucho gold to purchase all storage tabs available to a guild. Now we hear that tabs 5 and 6 have had their costs reduced by 50%, making their prices now 2.5k and 5k gold respectively. It sounds like the devs are listening to the feedback they are receiving from the players.

In addition to the great news about guild banks, WorldofRaids is confirming what we already reported about the pet buff food Kibler's Bits coming in Patch 2.3. It looks like my hunter will have to work on her cooking skills after all.

Also of note is a change to PvP combat. Silence and Interrupt are now affected by diminishing returns when used on PvP targets. This is welcome information for the arena fighters among us, knowing that your spells will eventually break down an interrupt or silence.

I don't know about you, but these look like finishing touches to me. I am crossing my fingers that we will see the patch on Tuesday. Yeah, I said I'm crossing my fingers, but I am sure as heck not going to hold my breath.

Pet food with stats is coming in 2.3!

Hot on the heels of the announcement that 2.3 has been pushed to the Blizzard Downloader, I found this lovely post from the highly-esteemed tradeskill priestess Kaliope about a pet food recipe she is playing with on the PTR that will go live with 2.3.

Ironically I was just reminiscing the other day of the summoned pet gear items that mages are able to summon for pets in the original Everquest and wondered why no pet-specific items existed in World of Warcraft. (The degree of accuracy with which Blizzard continues to read my mind on occasion is startling!)

The recipe for Kibler's Bits, which is obtained from the daily cooking quests from The Rokk in Lower City, makes pet food that offers twenty strength and spirit for thirty minutes. I would be somewhat amused if this food had an amusing debuff if eaten by a player.

Buzzard Meat. Is there anything it can't do?
