World of Warcraft in the comics
- Looking for Group: The premise of the comic is that our hero is a goody-two-shoes Blood Elf. But if you can get over that minor inconsistency, it's pretty funny.
- The Scout Report: Ah, I'm reminded of the good old days of Flintlocke. Only this one has more Night Elf, less Dwarf.
- Dark Legacy Comics: I love the artwork and the little chibi-gnomes. Plus, absolutely hilarious.
- By Way of Booty Bay: Gorgeous artwork. At least one Monty Python reference (see above). I say this is a win.
- The Chronicles of the Flaming Ruby: A nice mix of hand-drawn art and screenshots, and though it tends to be text-heavy, I'm sure some people prefer their comics that way.
- Manic Graffiti: Nice black and white art, good jokes. (Though sometimes I wonder if they're in-jokes.)
- Equinox: Defender of the Horde: Not often updated, but excellent when it is.
Flintlocke is dead. Long live Flintlocke!
Unfamiliar with Gamespy's popular World of Warcraft comic Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth? Have you been living under a rock? Even Blizzard made note of the popular comic, adding an item to the Burning Crusade referencing the unlikely hero of the series, Flintlocke. Fortunately, you can dive in to the comic's archives and enjoy it at any time. (I think my favorite episode is Ogre Killing in 56 Simple Steps.) Unfortunately, Gamespy has recently killed off the comic, citing an inability to find a new artist. So after two years (on and off), Flintlocke's adventures have ended. Well, at least we'll always have the memories...

Comic contest honorable mentions

I've let several October contest honorable mentions come and go without a post, so here's a collection of them. So far we have comics from Bludlemon talking about psychic scream, Twolions painting a picture of baby Thrall, Jagoda mourning a lack of bag space, Taskal pondering the anachronisms in Azeroth, and Gondon showing us what WoW toons do in their free time.
And if you've got your own ideas for a great World of Warcraft comic, this comic contest will continue until the end of the year, so get out your pens, pencils, markers, mice, or whatever method of creative expression you desire, and get working on your own submission.
Comic contest honorable mention
This comic comes to us courtesy of Iridani (if you cannot get to the official site, you may see the entire comic here), and addresses an issue that has always concerned me. (In fact, it weighs heavily on my mind whenever my Tauren druid attempts to travel by wyvern or bat.) And the art style is unique and suited to the topic at hand. And if you've got your own ideas for a great World of Warcraft comic, this comic contest will continue until the end of the year, so get out your pens, pencils, markers, mice, or whatever method of creative expression you desire, and get working on your own submission.
Comic Contest Honorable Mention
This honorable mention comes to us courtesy of player Kaigon of Seven Skulls (and, if you can't access the official site from work, you can see a copy of the comic here). The poor Tauren whom you see pictured on the right, is obviously at the end of his rope...And if you've got your own ideas for a great World of Warcraft comic, this comic contest will continue until the end of the year, so get out your pens, pencils, markers, mice, or whatever method of creative expression you desire, and get working on your own submission.
September comic contest winner
September's winner cracks me up -- and it does prove that you can win the contest with artistic skills of any level. Didn't think orcs and humans could get along, did you -- well, think again (and read the comic). And if you've got your own ideas for a great World of Warcraft comic, this comic contest will continue until the end of the year, so get out your pens, pencils, markers, mice, or whatever method of creative expression you desire, and get working on your own submission.
Comic Contest Honorable Mentions

Two more honorable mentions for Blizzard's comic contest have arrived for your viewing pleasure. Both have some really cool artwork (though the styles are completely different) and are both amusing in their own unique ways. First, there's this comic by Thorner of Succession talks about the Blood Elf paladins we'll see in the expansion. Second, there's this comic by Bludlemon of Doom Kittie which discusses some of Blizzard's more... interesting... artistic choices in the game.

Latest comic contest honorable mentions
There seem to be two new honorable mentions up for September's comic contest. The first shows us the tedious job of being a warlock while the second shows off this swanky mount. And if you've got your own ideas for a great World of Warcraft comic, this comic contest will continue until the end of the year, so get out your pens, pencils, markers, mice, or whatever method of creative expression you desire, and get working on your own submission.
Latest Comic Contest Honorable Mention

While I'm sure this sort of undead joke has been done before, I couldn't help but giggle when I saw this week's comic. Poor undead - if they weren't so very devious and, at times, downright evil, you might have to feel sorry for them.

Comic Contest Honorable Mention

All I can really say about this is that the (presumed) healer in the background with his head in his hands perfectly expresses my sentiments with regards to this comic. As a former warlock who now plays a healing class, I really must apologize to everyone who's had the pleasure of healing me in the past...
And if you've got your own ideas for a great World of Warcraft comic, this comic contest will be running until the end of the year, so there's still time to submit your own work for consideration!
Latest Comic Contest Honorable Mention

The latest honorable mention (by Trudylor of VR Comic) addresses an aspect of player life that's always confused me - and presents a scene I seem to be involved in every time I create a new character. But I'll let you go take a look for yourself rather than spoil the punchline.

Comic Contest Honorable Mention
Another week, and we have another comic contest honorable mention, this one by Banazir. This comic looks into the tragic life of those auctioneer NPCs. (Just think of everything they have to put up with from thoughtless players... or maybe we'd all rather not.) The comic contest will be continuing for the rest of the year - with one winner chosen every month. So if you've got an clever idea and a bit of skill, there's still plenty of time to submit your own work for consideration!
Another Comic Contest Honorable Mention
If these are really supposed to be a weekly thing, then they're running early this week - or perhaps they've just had a slew of good entries to feature. At any rate, there's another honorable mention posted. This comic addresses something that's always puzzled me - non-combat pets and stealth. My own rogue has a black tabby that trails along after me, whether I'm stealthed or unstealthed. Isn't this just a dead-giveaway to my enemies? Well, this comic suggests that it may not be...And if you feel you have the talent to compete, the comic contest runs all year, and there's still time to submit your own work for consideration!
This Week's Comic Contest Honorable Mentions

I admit, I find this week's honorable mention comic, by Oscaron, a little puzzling. A tiny mailbox? What? However, that was before I found this - a printable template with which to create your own tiny mailbox, for those times the server is offline. Now that's funny.
Again, if you feel you have the talent to compete, Blizzard is running this comic contest all year, and there's still time to submit your own work for consideration!
