Manaprincess reopens store, offers sale to WoW Insider readers

Our good friend and talented WoW crafter Manaprincess is back, and she's gone from Etsy to break out into her own World of Warcraft crafts store at manaprincess.com. She's got the usual Hearthstone key charms, as well as the WoW soaps up there, and a new section of "potion pendants" -- Health, Mana, or Rejuv potions to wear around your neck, just in case. And she says that all the items have been redesigned, so even things you've seen before may look a little different.

And as a thank you to you WoW Insider readers for all your support, she's having a sale just for you: from now until August 31st, you can put in the code "wowinsider" without the quotes at the checkout screen to get 25% off your entire order.

Manaprincess is definitely one of the best vendors in the crafting community, and it's great to see her up and running in a brand new store. If you're looking for some fun WoW-related gifts or crafts for yourself, her store is definitely one of the places to look.

World of WarCrafts: Banner of brutality

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Show the world where your loyalties lie with this horde-riffic signage. The bold red backdrop is guaranteed to garner attention while the blood spatter technique would make even Thrall proud.

Here is what you will need:
  • Wooden Frame (I used a Make Me Frameous frame from Michaels)
  • Wooden Letters (I used Provo Craft Carved Letters from Michaels)
  • Acrylic Paint (deep red, black)
  • Fine Red Glitter
  • Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray
  • Paint Brush

Real-life Scarlet Crusade t-shirt

Reader Richie has done something genius -- he is a big fan of the Scarlet Crusade, having collected all of their armor and their tabard ingame. And when one of his guildies hit a birthday, he decided to take the design from the tabard, and put it on a T-shirt. You can see how well it turned out above, and there are pictures of the box (probably my favorite part of the whole thing -- he actually printed the "tooltip" for the t-shirt on the front, in the official WoW font, called Friz Quadrata) over on his site. The whole thing looks terrific.

More pics of the shirt, including the front of the box and a pic of the shirt in action, in the gallery below (hopefully we won't murder Richie's site, though it was loading slowly when I first pulled it up). This is a brilliant idea -- what other Tabards should be t-shirts? Forget Figureprints, Blizzard should let you print your own guild's tabard out as a T-shirt for sale on their site.

Breakfast topic: Future heroic classes

Blizzard has told us that the Death Knight will be the first of the heroic classes, and probably the only one we can expect to see in the next expansion. I haven't heard a word about what other heroic classes might be in the future. Therefore I started thinking of my own. Sure, sure we'd love to see Bards and Battlemages, but how about something new. Here are some of my thoughts:

  • The Craftmaster- Any existing non-heroic class, but can have three or four trade skills. They'd have access to bind-on-pickup Craftmaster-only items. No hot-glue gun required!
  • The Supertwink- No, I don't mean another rogue, but a character that cannot level past 29. The Supertwink may be able to access some abilities and skills from higher levels.
  • The Gunslinger- Somewhere between a Rogue and a Hunter. Gunslingers do not use pets, and have a few up close trick shots. They can dual wield ranged weapons and stealth about.

Celebrate Midsummer with this one-of-a-kind novelty. Whether you're wanting to post your grocery list on the fridge or hang a picture of your latest crush in your locker, now you can do it with style.

Here is what you will need:
  • Polymer Clay (premo! turquoise and gold)
  • Circle Clay Cutters
  • Xacto Knife
  • Adhesive Magnet
  • Scissors

Real-life Mooncloth Bag (and Horde earrings)

Yup, it's a real-life Mooncloth Bag. SpikeHeadDesign over on Etsy has turned the 16-slotter's icon into an actual, real-life bag. Instead of actual Mooncloth, though (there are no real Moonwells on Earth, unfortunately), it's made of corduroy, cotton, a few buttons and velcro, and some kind of lace on the side (though I know my Shaman would never actually use something with lace on it, so they must all be different). Looks terrific, anyway, and it should for that price: $180.00. Still, for a handmade, one-of-a-kind bag, can't go wrong. The creator says that Netherweave is next, and it'll be exciting when we get to "Gigantique."

Alice Taylor of the great Wonderland blog has also been dutifully keeping up with WoW stuff on Etsy: she found these great Horde earrings that have unfortunately sold out (though this other design is still available). Could be the perfect gift for the jewelry-adorned WoW player in your life.

Thanks, Jaynnie!

World of WarCrafts: A gift from the embalmer

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Who needs a $500 couture bag from Nordstrom when you can sport this abomination? Perfect for toting around diapers, Incriminating Documents, or your pet's favorite toy.

Here is what you will need:
  • Natural Canvas Tote Bag (8.5"x11")
  • Felt (black, charcoal, red, pink, ivory, white)
  • Felt Glue
  • Scissors
  • Wax Paper

The most adorable healer ever

Ember on the Shattered Oath (US Emerald Dream-H) forums posted a photo documentary of how she hand-made a teddy bear Priest replica. The bear represents her Undead toon, complete with Staff of Immaculate Recovery. Now, I'm not so sure that I'd cast a teddy bear in the role of an undead anything, but in every other sense, Ember went out of her way to create a legitimate mini-me. She even went so far as to cut off the heads of some Barbie dolls and spray paint them silver to make the shoulder adornments suitably lifelike (undead-like?). The staff even glows in the dark.

She brands her creation with the tag Build-a-Priest, no doubt a nod to others out there. But who knows, she just might be onto something. If she'd make me a teddy bear shaman, I'd pay for it!

[Thanks, Gary Doyle!]

World of WarCrafts: Voidwalker doorknob hanger

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Is your special WoW time constantly getting interrupted? Need to keep people from raiding your domain while you're busy raiding Black Temple? This fanciful doorknob hanger is easy to make and fun for all ages. It's also not too late to add it to your Duskwood Chest for Father's day.

Here is what you will need:
  • Voidwalker Doorknob Hanger Template
  • Foam Doorknob Hanger
  • Foam Sheets (blue, light blue, green, purple)
  • Foam Letters (of the sticker variety)
  • Foam Glue
  • Fashion Beads (mixed colors)
  • Xacto Knife/Scissors

World of WarCrafts: Duskwood chest

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Father's Day is looming just around the corner (for some of us anyway) and what better way to celebrate fatherhood than a chest full of loot? Another uninspired neck-tie and socks combo is hard to beat but hopefully the target of this gift can appreciate the change of pace. If you happen to be the giver of this veritable cornucopia of awesomeness, prepare to be lavished with praise. If you happen to be on the potential receiving end, it might not be a bad idea to drop some subtle hints to your loved ones about a certain column on your favorite weblog.

World of WarCrafts: Giant yeti

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Ever get lonely sitting at your computer doing all those wonderfully redundant dailies? Need someone cute and cuddly to pass the time with? Use this easy to learn, but hard to master method to bring your favorite in-game companion or NPC into the real world.

Here is what you will need:
  • Sculpey Clay (blue, white, brown, black)
  • Clay tools (or a toothpick)
  • Oven
Optional supplies:
  • High gloss acrylic spray

World of WarCrafts: Runed copper rod

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Everyone needs a good rod. This runed copper variation is the ideal candidate for the apprentice enchanter. Just be mindful of where you whip out your magic stick because everyone will want to get their hands on it.

Here is what you will need:
  • Wood Dowel (1/2" x 12")
  • Wood Dowel Cap (1 1/2" x 3/8" Hole)
  • Metallic Craft Paint (I actually used a deep bronze)
  • Fine Gold Glitter
  • Brown Suede/Leather Cord
  • Small Feathers (2 red, 2 green)
  • Craft Glue (wood friendly)
  • Scissors

World of WarCrafts: Edible timberling

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

This cupcake is sure to resonate with anyone (Alliance, sorry Horde) who has done the Planting the Heart quest in Teldrassil.

The Cleansed Timberling Heart you receive as a reward allows you to summon an ally for 20 minutes, but don't expect this tasty treat to last that long.

Here is what you will need:
  • Cake Batter (cake mix and ingredients required)
  • Frosting
  • Food Coloring (green, red, blue)
  • Decorating Bag with Tip
  • Blue Candy Pieces
  • Fruit Leather (grape)
  • Knife (to cut the mask)
Optional supplies:
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • Gushers

World of WarCrafts: The secret of the ooze

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

Being a mom of two boys, this is definitely a good recipe to have in my bag of tricks. Slime is ultimate fun, and the ingredients are super cheap. The secret to this ooze is clear glue and a small amount of Borax solution.

Here is what you will need:
  • 1/2 cup of clear Elmer's glue
  • 1 cup of water
  • Borax Solution (1/4 cup of water + 1/4 teaspoon of Borax)
  • Food Coloring
  • Skull
Optional supplies:
  • Broken Weapon
  • Coins

DISCLAIMER: Common sense here; don't eat the slime. Definitely don't eat the Borax.

Breakfast Topic: Sunday is Mother's Day

Just a reminder that Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday, May 11. If you're planning on sending a gift, flowers, or a card, it's about time to get them in the mail. For the record, I have never met a Mom that didn't treasure a pretty bracelet given to her by her son. All of these things are positively fantastic for a traditional Mom, but we've got a lot of WoW Moms that might like something a little different.

Even as I get older, I've found that my Mom, and other Moms around me still enjoy homemade gifts. Our Thursday column, World of Warcrafts, has given us some excellent ideas on some very special gifts. Last week Shelbi showed us how to make a lovely Basket of Flowers. I'm also fond of her wonderful guide for making Super potions. I'm pretty sure my Mom would like these (even more than the paperclip necklace she treasured for years.)

You may also consider World of Warcraft T-shirts, or even paid play time. If you don't have a lot of money to dedicate to Mother's Day Shopping, you can give your WoW Mom the gift of playtime or even something special in-game. For those of you with less fantasy-oriented Mom's, here are some easy links to get gifts online:

Food:

Remember, you only get one Mom (ok, so in modern families, you may have 2 or 3), and Mother's Day only comes once a year. Make it count! What's your plan for your mom? (I can't tell you, my mom reads WoW Insider.)

* This public service announcement was brought to you by gamers who love their moms.
