Petopia updated for 3.0.2
Some people are excited about new talents and skills today. Some are excited about barber shops, or inscription. Me, I'm most excited about training a moth on my lowbie hunter. Think about it: moths! Ferocious, flappy beasts of terror and majesty - what could be better? I will be heading straight over to Azuremyst Isle as soon as the servers come back online, though it make take a death or two as a level 18 blood elf. That's a price that must be paid, since the only pre-Outlands trainable moths are the level 1 Vale Moths in the Draenei starting area.
And how do I know this? Mania has fully updated her simply amazing Petopia for the patch. You will now find information there on every pet family available now or in Wrath, with all the details on skills and stats. There is also an insanely detailed FAQ, so if there's anything you want to know on the new pet training system, for instance, you can find it out there. I'm continually impressed with the quality of the site; there's nothing I want to know about hunter pets that isn't there (except why the pretty blue moths on Bloodmyst Isle can't be tamed). So thank you, Mania, for an excellent site and a very thorough update.

Thank you for your kind words! This is such an exciting time for hunters and I'm just thrilled to be able to get involved this way.
As always, it's quite likely that I've missed something or made some mistakes. So if anyone sees something that seems off, please drop me an e-mail and I'll get it fixed as soon as possible.

Azuremyst also has the level 10 Ravagers and a level 12 Core Hound (and Ghost Sabers in nearby Darkshore). It's a fun place for a Horde Hunter to collect rare pets.
A Recruit-a-Friend account is invaluable for situations like this in enemy territory. Summon the friend, hearth back to stable your moth, friend summons you back so you can tame another pet.

All i know is they lie about the Lurkin , If they say a lvl12 can be tamed and over in the noob training area , lvl 12 hunter should be able to get it .Simple as that , if it supossed to be for a higher up hunter they should make this lvl 12 untamable , and make a lvl apporiate in the out lands for them to tame it and make the Lurkin the lvl it is supossed to be , this is so much on a misinformation right here , i had made a new hunter to get The Lurkin when i got to lvl 13 in one day i went there trind to tame it and i could not grr , i even sprained a muscle in my left hand to get this lvl in one day ( now i must go to the Doctors )
Make the Lurkin for lvl 12 or put it some where else , and Petopia should make it untamalbe and make a lvl higher lvl one some where else and WOW should do the same . This is total BS right here

The level requirements for the Exotic Beasts, which the Lurkin is, was put in the patch notes. A hunter must have Beast Mastery which requires 51 talent points. Thus only level 61 and higher can tame him. Read the patch notes!
