60-70 XP changes coming in 3.0.2
Patch 3.0.2 is going to bring us much of Wrath, without the new content. Specifically, we'll be getting the new spells and talents, which come out to a total class revamp for many classes. We'll also be getting a couple other fixes, like learnable mounts and mini-pets. And Tigole just confirmed today that among these will be a reduction in the amount of experience required to level between 60 and 70.
Levels 20–60 were sped up dramatically a little while ago, which I have been very much enjoying on my various alts. But the Outland levels have remained at the same rate as always. This isn't so much of an issue now, when 70 is the endgame, but of course we're getting another ten levels in LK, and trudging through Outland then will feel a lot like dragging yet another toon through Plaguelands now. (I know some of you like Plaguelands, but I just don't understand it.) So I'm glad this is coming a little sooner, so that hopefully I can have at least three 70s poised to go into Northrend instead of the two I have now.
What kind of a speed increase are we looking at? Well, the only hard numbers I've seen so far are 30% less XP required per level, and possibly 20% more XP given per mob, with no changes on quests. This is fairly substantial; I would be pleased.

Well this will only affect my DK, seeing as I will have the 9 other classes to 70 before the patch hits. Unless that's next week.

Same here.
They should have achievements like, "Hardcore Leveler" or "Level 800" for insane people like us. I had 7 at 60 before BC and I'll have all 9 before Wrath.

I only had 2 of them to 60 before BC, and most of the leveling on the others was done before the XP increase patch (or decrease depending on how you look at it).

Sept 2008 - 70, 70, 70, 70, 70, 70, 70, 66.4, 66.3

I have a few alts I have been working on and I still think level 50 to 58 takes forever. Maybe it is just because I can see Outland over the next hill or because the zones and quest are designed to make you run all over the place so you do not hit 60 to fast since that was the end game.

i lucked out around those levels; i got my alt to around 52-53 when the midsummer festival, and after running all the fire dowsing/lighting runs, all my alts went from 53 straight up to 58-59

Currently in Beta you reach about level 63 before leaving HFP. I'm thinking 3 zones max before you can head to Northrend. :)

Just got a newb to level just shy of 61 via Recruit a Friend.
I guess I'll do another one to 60 while waiting for 3.0.2 to go live.

I'd expect about a month, maybe month and a half. Don't hold your breath, keep on playing the game!

So will this be "retroactive", so to speak?
IE: (I'm using hypothetical numbers, kids)
Say I have 690K xp and I need 700K xp to get to my next level... then, with the patch, would I suddenly be into that next level?

Nope, its the same way it happened last time. Its percentaged based. If you were 90% of the way to leveling before the patch, you'll be 90% of the way to leveling after the patch, the exact numbers involved will just change. The only time I have seen a numbers change was on the beta when they recentlyish upped the XP requirements, leaving a lot of people who had been a bar from leveling with almost a whole half a level to go.

If it's anything like the last xp change (patch 2.3?) then no. If you are 98.6% to the next level pre patch, you will be 98.6% post patch.
But if it took 700 xp pre patch and 500 xp post patch, that remaining 1.4% is a small amount until the next level.

I haven't seen this anywhere, but are they adding the spellpower system in this patch? Or is it in LK?

Spellpower, as well as pretty much every other class and gear change, should be in this patch. The only thing you won't have will be the new Northrend content and the ability to play a Death Knight.

Wonderful! I actually have a toon in the late 50's making her way up to outland so this change will be perfect timing.

I hoped that something like this would happen... I'm going to have 3 70s leveled in the space of weeks thanks to this and RAF.
That's pretty awesome.
