Breakfast Topic: Skippable quests
Shellyw has a good question on the forums: what quests do you always skip? Blizzard is pretty good about the rewards system -- even if a quest is a pain to get through, they'll usually make the reward worth it. But there are quite a few quests in the game that just don't have anything you want, and just aren't worth the time putting into them.Green Hills of Stranglethorn is mentioned early on in the thread, and I couldn't agree more -- any of those collecting quests I usually just give up on, as it's usually easier to just sell the pages off inside that zone to someone who is actually doing the quest. I often skip a lot of group quests as well, especially while leveling. While the rewards for those are usually very good (and they're often the end of long chains, which means both XP and items that come from them are great), it's often tough to find a group, so they usually sit in my quest log until grey and then get abandoned.
And occasionally, especially when I need space in my quest log for newer quests, I just plain skip anything that doesn't give an item that I need. If there's a choice of quest rewards, and none of them fit my class or spec, I'll just abandon the quest entirely to replace it with a quest that works better for me. What quests do you find skippable? How do you do triage on quests when your log fills up?

That's funny, I usually do the Green Hills quest, just because it's so easy to buy All the pages off the AH :)

Exactly. Pages are always cheap, even at the neutral Goblin AH, and the XP reward is great.

first as for the green hills quests, i ussually skip but now with rap its like 100k xp...so sweet:)
as for one i rlly dont think ive ever completed, the warsong supply quest in splintertree ashenvale and the trails quest chain in 1k. both make you go EVERYwhere and by the time i do get half way done with one of them its been grey for hours. so i end up dropping them even tho they pay out blues.(altho the warsong rewards can be replaced by sfk/bfd/gnomer/sm gear at around the same time)

I skip the Netherwing daily to poison the grunts. Not only is it a meticulously low drop rate on the glands, but I always feel so bad about killing the peons!

Killing them is bad, but throwing the booterang isn't? Don't forget, these are agents of the Burning Legion.

Nobody makes you do it and you have to get the damn drop first anyway.

I hate it too cuz if you're in a zone where one of those things drops and you don't already have one inyour inventory it keeps dropping and dropping and dropping... ugh... With QuestHelper they got a little easier and once I had a mount I stopped ignoring them so it stopped annoying me as much. But I definitely agree that they are one of the most worthless quests ever.

Go troll somewhere else. This article is about EXACTLY THAT - skipping quests. He knows he doesn't have to do it, and chances are he didn't.

With the distress beacons, the best thing to do is to turn it in to the chicken, but not accept the escort quest. That way, you don't have the beacons littering your inventory, and you can always go back and do the escort later.

Actually, if you do all 3 chicken quests you get a mechanical chicker for yourself, it's not even bop, so you can make some pretty good gold at ah.

Odd, I like doing the Desolace quests for some reason... :\ I really like the one with the caravan.

I always try to skip the Desolace centaur quests unless I'm desperate for Xp in a slump. It's just wrong for all of my little baby tauren alts to go help centaur. Centaur and tauren just don't go together...

I liked Desolace, in a strange sort of way. It always seemed so different from the rest of the game. I did most of the centaur quests there, but I probably wouldn't do it again. :)
I always skip the cooking quests that just give you food as a reward. Bleh.

I don't really have a system of skipping quests, however, I do tend to skip entire zones. I don't find Duskwood a particularly nice place to be in, and while it is full of lore and other goodies, I just don't like the darn place. That is usually the point where I head over to Kalimdor and work it out over there. On my higher toons, I do the Fishing and Cooking quests religiously, but thats about it. All of my in game friends say I should do the Shattered Sun dailies, but again, if it ain't fun, I ain't a-doing it. And I don't find those to be particularly fun, especially on a daily basis.

Thats odd to me I have worked out an efficient pattern to turn in and do certain quests simultaneously so it doesnt take as many runs acoss the map. This makes it one of my favorite places to level. Quick lotsa easy grind quests, and 2 large chains.
I was recently disappointed to see they nerfed the end of those 2 changes with the leveling patch.
