Around Azeroth: The plan
Was all of Wrath of the Lich King designed while watching Comedy Central and Adult Swim? New death knights need to kill Mayor Quimby, some mobs drop ground gears (a probable Family Guy reference), and now the gnomes in the Borean Tundra are stealing their plans from South Park. The Wrath questlines are beginning to strongly resemble my DVD collection. Anyway, Namus of Korialstrasz noticed this master plan on the wall of an oil derrick in the geyser fields of Northrend. My question is, why do you even need Step 2? Oil rigs are a great way to profit. At least until the mechagnomes come.
This image came to us straight from the Wrath of the Lich King beta -- and we'd love to have your beta screenshots, too! If you have anything our readers might like, beta or not, sharing it is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. And please, no sunsets.

Even if you read the Wowhead link's comments it's said there.
Sorry the insult could have been a lot worse imo.

"A probable family guy reference" refers to "some mobs drop ground gears", not Mayor Quimby.

Nobody suggested Quimby was from Family Guy. The ground gears are. Peter had a segment on the local news called "You know what really grinds my gears?"

I think he's saying the ground gears are a probable family guy reference, not the mayor part, he even gives a link to the Family Guy episode where Peter get s a job doing a segment called "You Know What Really Grinds My Gears?"

I don't mind the pop culture references, but Blizz has told us this is a return to Azeroth and all it's lore. Sometimes it feels like they are so busy trying to be cute that they forget about the storylines.
Ask anyone what they rememeber about Nagrand? I'd bet most remember the Nesingwary quests and not the storylines involved with the ogres and broken even though they are more relevant to the overall storyline of the game.

I willfully forgot about the Nesingwary quests as soon as I completed them.
/shudder
The ogre stuff was kinda nifty, if simple. I don't remember the Broken getting a whole lot of actual development in Nagrand, but then, they were never all that interesting to me, anyway.

Why does every nerd in the internet say that kind of things?

Um... the "probable Family Guy reference" is referring to the ground gears. Not Mayor Quimby. I think they added the "probably Family Guy reference" to clarify the pop culture reference of ground gears.

And, of course, the commenting system puts this separately, instead of as a reply to Saiforune.

Ii think the commas are a way of seperating the references
"New death knights need to kill Mayor Quimby, (Simpson)
some mobs drop ground gears (a probable Family Guy referenence),
and now the gnomes in the Borean Tundra are stealing their plans from South Park."

My God. The pop culture references are getting fucking WORSE.
Let's hope they realize the obnoxious fever pitch they're reaching and tone it down come next expansion.

People use pop culture references because it's funny.

The concept of a list where the last-but-one step is "????" and the last one is "Profit!" is not from South Park, it is a much, much older internet meme.
It has been in use on, for example, slashdot.org for a long time.
