Breakfast Topic: The next Caverns of Time encounter
It hasn't shown up on the Beta servers yet, but it's probably still one of the most eagerly anticipated instances of Wrath of the Lich King, especially for us old timers. I'm talking, of course, about The Culling of Stratholme in the Caverns of Time.
The nice thing about the Caverns of Time is that you can do stuff like this, sending people back to visit pivotal places, people, and things in the past without creating a whole new game. Despite the stumble in Mount Hyjal, when we appeared to go as tourists instead of agents of the Bronze Dragonflight to combat the Infinite Dragonflight, the Caverns of Time has been solid and well-liked, with 5-man instances that allow you to experience some important and intriguing lore and give you a definite story to follow in the instance, one that can be done in well under an hour.
Certainly, this model has lead to a lot of fans, and a lot of people hoping we'll see many more CoT dungeons to come. There's even rumors (or wishful thinking) that we'll get another Caverns of Time raid for Wrath, possibly The War of the Shifting Sands.
Whether it's true or not, I can't say, but the caverns definitely have room to expand. As the custodians themselves explain, passageways to new times could open up without warning, sending us off on new adventures. What times, places, and people would you like to visit via the caverns?

I completely agree. I'm particularly interested in the whole Dragonmaw/Alexstrasza incident.

i agree... the battle for grim batol would probably be the most relevant considering rhonin is showing up as the new leader of the kirin tor and he was the pivotal person when it came to freeing alextrasza...
save the war of the shifting sands and the war of the ancients for the emerald dream expansion...

The re-opening of the Dark Portal at the BC Launch for those of us who missed it.
Or perhaps some original Warcraft like the assault on Grand Hamlet or Northshire Abbey.

I predict a lot of that. There's so much data in the MPQs that isn't being used right now. I'll bet they even keep classic 40-man Naxx alive thru CoT.

Honestly, very little happened at TBC launch. Really nothing worthy of an instance.
Unless the aim of the instance is to try and wall jump on to the top of the portal. :)

War of the Ancients. And please, make it the non-Knaak version.

Although if it is using CoT to transport parties/raids into the past, the Knaak version would make sense

Am I the only one that ever wished the Caverns of Time could go do something in the future? And stop something nasty and unpleasant FROM happening (or stopping it being stopped)? Y'know...something entirely new and invented rather than an element from existing WoW lore and Warcraft games?
Hell...I'll settle for a Bill and Ted telephone box to port you between instances. That would rock.

In the five battlegrounds, we have night elves vs. orcs, humans vs. forsaken, dwarves vs. orcs, draenei vs. blood elves, and now in Strand of the Ancients, humans vs. tauren.
We're missing a key conflict - orcs versus humans! It would be nice to revisit a Warcraft or Warcraft II battle, although Lore-wise, I don't know how to justify the fact it might end with either side winning.

Eye of the Storm isn't really Blood Elves vs Dranei though. There's some pictures of them on the loading screen, and they happen to be the race to talk to on the EotS weekend, but that's about it. There is no story behind it. There is no faction behind it. There is no rewards or quests for it. It doesn't even have a location. When people continuously complain about how things are unfair, you get a soulless battleground that is perfectly symmetrical with pretty much no terrain.

When do we get a Gnomes vs. Trolls battleground?
Maybe we can fight about how we both want the same new city for our capitol, since we're both sharing other people's.
...Too bad the trolls will just do some gnome-punting and win ;)

Something in the war of the ancients would be cool - the corrupting of Xavian perhaps? Actually something with Queen Azsura would be a good tie in to the likely next expansion (after WotLK).
And while it probably isn't the most obvious choice - maybe the recruiting of the wyverns for the Horde? I always liked that mission, and it would give them a chance to bring back some of the baddies in Kalimdor.

If i had to choose three places in the past I'd like to visit...
1. The war of the three hammers, help the Bronzebeards defeat Thaurissan at Ironforge and then fly quickly to Grim Batol to assist the Wildhammers.
2. The Sundering. Doesn't really matter which side we have to help, but just seeing it would be something.
3. Arthas corrupting the Sunwell. Maybe the instance would revolve around protecting Kael'Thas or some blood elf important to history, but also allow us to see Arthas turning Sylvanas. I think this would really help a lot of people who don't know the lore understand just why she's so pissed off, especially considering her role in WotLK.

I would utterly LOVEEE to see the March to the Sunwell. I even put up a senario for it on the WoW forums. It'd be a great raid. And you have to protect the Sunwell from the Infinite Dragnflight who seek the powers for themselves. But wanna know why Sylvanas is so P.O'd? HE KILLED HER
