WoW Insider previews Wrath of the Lich King's Borean Tundra
Personally, most of this zone is my least favorite aesthetically with the exception of the Coldarra (above). The visuals are alright in those zone, but it's really carried by strong quests and stories. Still, that doesn't mean it's an ugly zone, certainly not. The others simply set the bar really high, and I still strongly recommend checking out the gallery if you don't mind being spoiled a little bit. Speaking of spoilers, there are a couple of story spoilers in this gallery but they're very minor. None of the massive, epic questlines are spoiled in this gallery. Especially not the one where you go to-

I beg to disagree, good sir-It is very much an ugly zone. You've done a good job highlighting the parts that don't look as if Jackson Pollock was made a Blizzard developer and handed a bucket of rainbow sherbet to work with.

Or
"A gallery of beta screenshots and 1 blogger's opinion about why Borean Tundra is ugly"
Could we have a little more journalism please?

I'll be levelling here, simply because everyone else will likely start from Howling Fjord... less of a gank-fest. HF can wait for alts.

That screenshot collection was rubbish. It gives a poor indication of the region. I didn't get any idea of the Alliance presence, neither a good overview of what goes on.
The previous area previews were much better.

To be completely honest, Valiance Keep, the Alliance town, is very very hard to get screenshots of. It's cool looking and I enjoy it, but its not as easy to get a good view of it as Warsong Hold. If I could get a shot of Valiance Keep from the air, that'd be different, but flight doesn't work in many places on the beta.
Many of the storylines in the Borean Tundra are very easily spoiled as well. That, and... a lot of the zone is pretty ugly. :\ You can't tell a lot of what is going on anywhere, parts of the zone are very disconnected from eachother.
The next ones will be better.

Damn. Your polite response makes me feel somewhat rude. Let me just balance the scale by saying I appreciate the time and energy you put into this.

Okay, maybe I am missing something, but the Nexus, home of Malygos, is in a STARTING AREA?! So Malygos, the original wielder of magic, imbued by the titans themselves to be one of the 5 aspects that essentially hold the world of azeroth together or at least from falling into complete chaos, is a LKnewb dungeon boss?! Yes lets down the strongest magic user known as a 75? elite. He's an aspect he should be stronger then Arthas. Even archimonde was scared of the ascpects on their own and actually shook when he saw 4 of them with their flights.

Malygos could be the Wrath equivilent of Magtheridon, in that he is in a starting zone, but still needs a well geared raid to take him down.

Coldarra is in a newbie zone but Malygos is still a level 80 raid boss.

I'm surprised that the Nerubians in the screenie look so, well, Silithid-like. I like the way they look in the Plaguelands.
