Reader Phi mentions that it doesn't matter when the codes were claimed. She registered her code right after BlizzCon last year while her boyfriend registered only yesterday after Blizzard's announcement, and both received their keys today. If you're one of the lucky few who attended either Blizzard event or managed to snag a beta code through other channels like eBay, registering the code should see you receiving invites in the mail. WoW Insider's Elizabeth Harper, who attended both, received two invites to the Beta eight minutes apart from each other. The official e-mail from prompts players to follow the step-by-step instructions over at Blizzard's official Beta page. Thanks to everyone who tipped this in!

EU players with Blizzcon 07 card got equally hosed. Our key is US only...
I recall last time it took tons of complaints before Blizzard traded the keys (Blizzcon 05 keys for EU TBC beta keys). Why oh why they had to repeat this problem?

Just for reference, since I see my comment here has generated some references in the support forums about this, the thread which I'm referring to is located here:

Got my invite 5:14 pm today (from my Blizcon key), downloading 1.8 gig client now. The "temp account" they have you make appears to actually be a standard Blizzard Online Store account (I had one from when I registered my D2 and WCIII keys). Woot, I say, Woot Indeed!

Heh- well i may have started it before people were home from work and helping the file transfer. Also I quit after only a minute so maybe it didn't get up to speed. Either way I'm just going to get it overnight.

Have the opt-in beta keys gone out yet? I'm still kicking myself for not going to Blizzcon '07. I went to the one in '05 and got my Murky and Burning Crusade Beta key. I even enjoyed leveling my main twice. Even reported at least 50+ bugs. I keep crossing my fingers, hitting F5 on my email and hoping.

I received a beta invite today as well although I would like to know how to tell the difference between a beta key email and an opt in key due to the fact my wife and I have both our accounts opted in on the same email which is also the same I used my beta key on.

Oh, and if Elizabeth is feeling generous, I promise to give that extra beta key a good home. :)

Is it too late to get a code from a WWI card?

No I don't believe so. Blizzard is keeping the opt-in program going the entire time beta is up. I don't see why they wouldn't honor the WWI cards, and I haven't seen anything saying there was any sort of time limit.
Of course, sooner you turn it in, tthe better. :)
