If you're a regular reader of our Guildwatch feature, you may remember hearing about the woes of the Oceanic PvP realm Thaurissan on the last Guildwatch. The server is incredibly Horde heavy, with an estimated 14 to 1 imbalance, and the server denizens say it is genuinely near impossible to get 25 people together to do raid content on the Alliance side. Unfortunately , we also know that Blizzard is still firmly against PvE to PvP realm transfers, which may be preventing Thaurissan from getting the influx of new blood they need.
However, for the sake of Thaurissan's Alliance, they have suspended this restriction. Starting today, June 12th, and ending no later than June 19th, Alliance characters (and only Alliance characters) from the Oceanic PvE realms Nagrand, Aman'thul, and Khaz'goroth will be eligible for free transfers to the Thaurissan realm. Blizzard reserves the right to close transfers early if they meet their goals, so if you're eligible and you want to go, you'd better get that request in now.
This is not the first time they've done this type of thing. Over two years ago, a large cluster of PvE realms were given the opportunity to transfer to the Black Dragonflight and Dalvengyr PvP servers. Thus, it seems that they can be convinced to waive their restrictions on transfers, but that a chance to do so may only come up once every 2 years. Good luck to everyone transferring to Thaurissan, and hopefully this gives the Thaurissan Alliance the shot in the arm they need to get their end game going.

I heard about Thaurissan on the official forums a while ago and had to see for myself. I rolled a dwarf and ran to IF (which I had no clue where I was going because I only play horde). It was a ghost town. According to the who channel there were 3 people in IF. I never saw anyone though.

For those who want to ease into PVP, the obvious method to do this is to play on a population imbalanced server, level up a guy, then server transfer to a less imbalanced server. Too bad it's Horde imbalanced. . . I've got friends playing Alliance on a PVP server that I might think about joining if I could avoid the ganking while leveling.

the ganking is inevitable unfortunately but when you get to a high level revenge is really sweet.

With a 14:1 ratio of Horde to Alliance, they are just admitting that it's a PvE realm for Horde. Sure, it's a PvP realm for Alliance, but letting PvE Alliance in is just balancing out the PvP. Both sides get to level to 70 in the happy world of PvE.

i agree that they needed to do that, but to be fair to everyone else they should open it up to all. i want to move my lvl 47 druid from hyjal to blackwing lair because all my friends play on it.

Alliance? want to transfer from any pve server to any other pvp server?
Step 1: transfer from your pve server to Nagrand, Aman'thul, or Khaz'goroth
Step 2: Take free transfer to Thaurissan
Step 3: transfer off Thaurissan to any other pvp server.
Am I totally wrong? is this doable?

There's a cooldown on transfers. I think 45 days. Maybe longer.

This is fantastic news for me!
My first character ever is on an Oceanic realm, as the game auto-chose for me when I started the game. I abandoned this character years ago when I learned that you couldn't transfer from PvE to PvP. Lately, I've grown bored playing my Horde side mage.
Woohoo!

I wish they would do this for Jaedenar US. Wow Census says its 1 to 2 but it also says they don't have enough horde for accuracy. It sure seems like it is much worse. Blizz needs to regulate pvp servers much more closely then pve. It is good they are at least looking at it but letting it get to 1 -14 in the first place is ridiculous.

I don't see the appeal of transferring to a realm which is heavily skewed. I know thats the point they are trying to fix, but the odds of this working are pretty slim, and if you go then you are stuck till you can transfer off - at your cost.
If the balance is to really be adjusted, then it needs to be open to more realms imho.

Transfers to the PVE realms are disabled. No-go on the sneaky business to get your PVE toon over to the free moves then to PVP. :(

So which "Friend of Blizzard" is benefiting from the rule bending this time? Blizzard only seems to care about population imbalances when their buddies want to transfer to a PVP server.
