One of my favorite memories of WoW came from a year and a half or so back, when Alex and I were both leveling a pair of DPS Warriors as alts, mine a Gnome female, his a Night Elf male whom he RPed as being absolutely insane and having an unhealthy love of cheese. We had a friend who was leveling a Druid, another who was leveling a Shadow Priest and a third who was leveling a Warlock. So, it seemed on a lot of nights, all 5 of us would get together and take on whatever dungeon was in our level range. We conquered most of the mid-level dungeons once or twice this way, with no tank -- Alex would just charge ahead screaming and pull a bunch of mobs -- and somehow (we were never sure how) we generally killed them while staying alive. Often, neither of us Warriors made a special effort to tank, we just somehow DPSed them to death before they killed us.
Then there was the Razorfen Downs run where we must have pulled half the Quillboar in the dungeon, sending them in to die beneath our spinning Ravager blades as the poor casters ran about for dear life with no tanks to protect them properly -- because the tanks, you see, were too busy squealing with joy as they spun around and around again.
I'm not sure why those Ravager groups worked or why they were so much fun. The people were some of the best WoW players and coolest people I've had the pleasure of knowing online, the insanity of the breakneck tankless pulls was madcap and breathtaking enough to fun, and the novelty of a completely crazy piece of equipment that shouldn't technically be useful only added to the equation. It's not likely I'll ever really find a combination again, if only because high level dungeons aren't that forgiving, but with every new piece of content since then, I keep my eye out for an upgraded version of the Ravager, in hopes that one day maybe we can get the group back together and do another Ravager run.
What about you? Have you had a silly, unique, unconventional experience while playing WoW, be it a dungeon run or elsewhere, that has stuck with you? Was it centered around a great group of people or a new use for an item or something such as that?

I remember a run of RFK in which our tank bailed out. Our group composition was: three mages and a priest. So we went crazy and kited everything to death with three mage-tanks while the priest spammed heals. We downed the Crone pretty easily, but by the time we got to the end of the escort mission, there were respawns - it was a glorious, GLORIOUS END! And it was just hilarious kiting everything around with frostbolts and cones of cold, to boot. A wonderful run.

"Let's try something different! The mage will tank the boss! No cc, we'll just take one each! Wait, why'd I die? WHERE WERE MY HEALS?"

when i'm on one of my healers, I actually prefer the "fun" or "unconventional" runs. Mostly healing a 5-man is pretty boring when everyone is doing their jobs "right". I infinitely prefer bg healing, as it's more fast paced, and similarly the "unconventional" runs are way more fun for a healer in my experience.
like my shadow priest healing a moonkin tank for a ramps run the other day..good times :)

I play a shadow priest and a holy priest. I can definitely say the most fun times I've ever had was either when I have to MC-tank half the group on a crazy over-pull or, best of all, when I get to heal in a group that just wants to try "something different"
One of best groups I've been in included 2 insane mages where the mages had a contest to see how long they could balance their threat out and ping-pong a mob between them . I don't quite remember who the other two in the group were but there was no tank in sight. Usually when we would end up pulling "too much" the reason was "my wand slipped" from one of the mages. We usually ended up keeping score on the mage deaths to see who could get the OTHER to die more.
Now to be honest, we did die many times, but those were some hilarious times. The key to enjoying a group like that is to in assuming that a) you're GOING to die....a lot. and b) everyone agrees that you're there to goof off and it's no one's fault when you all die horribly (see a).
Come to think of it now...I seem to attract insane mages like moths to a flame....all the other fun groups I've been in have included some out-of-their-gourd mage who wants to go "God Mode" because I'm healing them....

a while back, we did a heroic SP run with a Fury Warrior with a shield, a demonology warlock, and three shaman - one of each flavor (I was Enhancement). We did the whole thing, by god. With a few extra wipes. But wipe recovery was.... not a problem.

While levelling a priest and a warlock, me and my friend managed to 2-man everything in our level range up to Mara. We probably could have handled Mara but we decided to twink our characters at 49. SM was probably my favorite- we conquered GY around like 31 because it's just stupidly easy, Library around 33, maybe 34, and Armory and Cath fell in the same night at 40. I think we might have wiped like, twice, ever. I did have to spec my warlock demonology to beat Armory and Cathedral because drain tanking stopped being effective with 2-3 mobs on me. Plus, my priest buddy had gotten shadowform and refused to actually heal.

I did this with a paladin and a druid, up to BRD. We traded aggro when things got really hairy, but for the most part we let Seal of Light do the healing. SM, RFD, ZF, even Mara, using every consumable and cooldown we had on the princess -- all 2-manned.
It's funny, but I had never finished Sunken Temple with a PUG. It seems to be a huge endurance and skill check that most PUG's fail. With two good players, however, we cleared the whole thing -- both floors, and all bosses. (And those dragonkin pulls are INSANE.) Quite rewarding and fun.

I did this with a friend - both of us mages. Didn't do absolutely everything, but most dungeons through ZF were two-manned. We were generally 5-10 levels above the "recommended" point when we managed to clear things, but generally got them taken care of before most mobs turned gray-level.

2 Days ago we did a nostalgic UBRS run.
however we did so much DPS we not only managed to Survive a Leeroy but also we killed Rend and Glyth before Rend could get off his mount.
this caused us to be locked up, the gates did not open on either side.
We called a GM and he placed us outside the gate (on the road to the Beast) while we aggroed the entire hall, we found out there is a second gate when you go out of rends room up the ramp heading for BWL.
the GM didn't said we had to restart the Rend event.
and guess what.. we managed to do it again!
that time we just portalled and went for ZG

OMG! That is the best Rend story I have ever heard! Back in the day I once got stuck in the hallway outside the event and the peeps inside managed to get the trash waves down and people started going down once Rend appeared. We managed to pull Rend out into the hallway with us and finish him off. I managed to accomplish this by running into the gate until my pet ran inside the room and got Rend's attention. I then put him on passive, getting him back at my side as well as Rend! So we finished him off in the hallway. Possibly the screwiest boss fight I have ever seen!

I remember the one time I pugged Strat on my Resto Druid. In the very beginning with all of those annoying skeletons, we had a Paladin who assured us that she could tank. I watched as a bajillion ghouls did nothing but beat on me. Second time around, I rezzed, ordered the warlock to follow me, and Swiftmended my way around the map, essentially heal-tanking while the lock blasted everything on my restotrain dead. I had the video on filefront, but they deleted me for inactivity. :(
Also, two-manning Strat and BRD with a warrior/resto Druid combination Pre-BC was awesome fun.

Ravager actualy brings me some of the funnest memories while lvling my warrior
while I was doing pug instances with complete strangers I found out most ppl think that a shotgun shot does a hell lot of threat so I've spent most of my time tanking with a two handed weapon, and the time I spent with Ravager was the funnest I had.
I'd just charge in and start spinning around and it was great aoe tanking xD

I have two stories:
1. Shattered Halls (Pre-Nerf) with an Arms warrior tank. This doesn't sound that amazing at first, but he tanked the entire place with polearmS. PolearmS, every pull he would change polearms, varying between the Plasma Rat's Hyper Scythe, Trident of the Outcast Tribe, and Sonic Spear. We didn't wipe once. Group composition: Arms Warrior (Tank) Rogue Hunter Warlock and Druid (Healer)
2. Me and 4 friends all leveling druids. Its quite a sight to see a perfectly acceptable instance group made of all druids. We had 2 Moonkins, 2 Feral Druids, and one Resto druid. We managed everything up to BRD in groups of 4 of 5, depending on who was online. Only problem was fighting for loot.
