Resto4Life has updated their very helpful Mana Regen Calculator -- if you want to figure out just how much mana you're picking up while buffed and dressed in a raiding or group situation, it'll tell you, including talents, items, and even abilities used on you (Innervate and Mana Tide totem). Pretty slick. The new update allows for Mages to have a set of abilities of their own, including Mage Armor, and Evocation, which means that Druids, Priests and the followers of the Arcane all have their chance to see how much Mana they're getting back per tick. Shame that Shaman aren't on the list yet (maybe all of the mp5 on Shaman abilities and gear would make it too hard to do?), but if you're one of the listed classes, it's a terrific resource for seeing what your Mana regen abilities are like and how you can best make use of them. Very cool.

Shamans aren't the only ones that got screwed on the whole Spirit buff thing. Hunters and Paladins as well are now far more mana inefficient than the other classes.

It wasn't a comment about shaman getting hosed, it was a comment about them not being in the calculator, probably because of how their MP/5 itemization is.

Shaman aren't there because mp5 is the only thing that gives us mana while casting. Why use a calculator to calculate what your character sheet already accurately tells you?

@Fizzl: That site is really amazing! But I don't see any reference to MP5 (effective or paper doll) anywhere on the output results. Am I just missing it?

Shamans and Paladins aren't included in the calculator because they aren't considered to regenerate their mana through Spirit/Intellect. This is primarily because they lack a talent like Intensity or Meditation that allows a portion of mana regeneration to continue within the five second rule. The calculator was originally designed for Druids, found to have similar applications for Priests (who have an equivalent buff), and then extended for Arcane Mages.
I don't think that Shamans and Paladins are disadvantaged because they do not benefit as much from Spirit as do Priests and Druids; they simply have other mechanisms by which they can regenerate or conserve mana, Illumination being one such mechanism for Paladins.

The problem with that second paragraphs is that Illumination is not as mana efficient as you think. Also, considering that it's been nerfed heavily doesn't make it as attractive, now that even with it, paladins can run out of mana, and still have no paladin specific method of mana regeneration, and no, Blessing/Seal of Wisdom are not strong enough, nor does the seal provide the neccesary mana for the paladin, since he needs to be hitting the mob with the Judgment on when he should be healing.
So, yes, paladins need another method of mana regeneration which doesn't require them to use mana in the first place.

Mages probably need an option to select zero time between spell casts. Assuming that a mage waits 1.5 seconds between casting each spell is not entirely realistic.

Or is that the length of time of the spell being cast? In that case, Arcane Missiles is a 5 second cast time.

@Ambril: Cast frequency represents the time between the initial spell casts and is used to determine the active proc rates for the two trinkets that are part of the calculator (Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon and Bangle of Endless Blessings). I'll bump up the possible value to 5.0 seconds just in case. Thanks!

An in Game version of this calculator can be found at:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/12772/
its still in Beta as i have to iron out a couple of errors, but it all works perfectly despite this.
I would appretiate it if people could test it, and write some feedback, maybe even some expansion suggestions.
