We have also been told that the DK will start with a mix of blue and green gear. I'm now seeing in several places what are, allegedly, a set of screenshots of the starting gear. The going opinion is that this is not faked or from a private server (because there are multiple players visible as well as a functioning NPC), but of course those are eminent possibilities. The appearance does match the picture Blizz gave us on their official site, though.
Assuming these are real, it turns out that "mix of greens and blues" means "green armor, blue weapon," which is fine because, after all, the weapon is the most important part. Of course, the weapon currently in game by that name is a random-enchantment green, and doesn't look at all like the alleged alpha screenshots, but it's certainly possible that Blizz intends to revamp it in Wrath. As far as the stats go, it's mostly Strength, a fair amount of Stam, a nice bit of Crit, somewhat less Agi and Haste, and just a touch of Hit. So it stands to reason that Strength is probably the DPS stat for DKs.
What do you think? Real? Fake? Don't care because it's awesome?

If those stats are accurate, it would indicate that Death Knights share itemization priorities with arms Warriors and retribution Paladins.
This means there will be no mechanical advantage to the Death Knight gnome's vast intellect, and justifying my creation of one will be an epic internal struggle.

Alternately, fury warriors. If the DK goes dual wielding.

Honestly, at max level, racials are handy at best. Go with what you want to be looking at for the ungodly amount of hours you will be investing.
Also,
GO GNOME OR GO HOME.

meh, seems like a reasonable set of starting gear to keep for the 3-5 levels you'll spend in EPL, but it seems like the somewhat lower stats indicate an item level that is balanced for pre-BC gear. So i'm sure we'll see a massive AH rush for all those 57-60 outland's greens. If you want my advise and are serious about a DK, start stashing level 57 plate gear "of the Solider" now and try to get a full set ready for when wrath hits.

How cool is it that the DK trainer is named Siouxsie the Banshee?

well, its closer to 60 than it is to 40. wouldn't make much sense to have a mount that only lasts for 5 levels. This is supposed to be a "hero" class. Why not?

you may be right, but i guess that would imbalance the 50-59 bg's, wouldn't it?

maybe this is only in alpha I have read you start with a 60% and do a q to get the 100% so don't trust the picture to telling the true

It would imbalance the 50-59... Except that it's the 50-60 bracket.

Alpha. Things are subject to change. Why are most of the icons for existing abilities and gear? Why are they starting at Tirion's cabin instead of a Necropolis and their own area?
Answer: They're not done with it yet.
Blizzard already stated that you'd get a 60% mount to start, and a quest for the 100% mount at 60.

In the pictures of the Death Knight equipment, you can see Tirion Fordring in his farm on EPL... knowing he is a strong candidate to the reunited Silver Hands leadership and/or the quest to achieve Ashbringer, we might wonder: his he the one that convinces death knights to turn their back to the Scourge? Only ramblings, but i'm so curious to know XD

I would love it if the Deathchargers eventually make it into the PvP BG mounts available for alliance but since it's a class mount and not a racial one, I doubt it ;(

Pime Taradox! He'll be on his farm in EPL, AND in Northrend at the same time. After all, he doesn't have a family to take over for him like Hemet Nesignwary does.

It's just a placeholder for now (he gives three quests that are already in the game). Blizz said DKs would start in a Necropolis and have their own questing area, so, yeah.
According to the leaked faction info, the Death Knights are apparantly banding together under the leadership of Highlord Darion Mograine as Knights of the Ebon Blade. I'm thinking that's probably the same Highlord Mograine that weilded the corrupt Ashbringer and was defeated in Naxxramas, so maybe his defeat allowed him to break free of the Lich King's control or something. That, or it's his other son. *shrug*

Can someone give me feedback on the death coil spell? Is it the same as the warlock spell? Someone told me it was only a life drain ability.
