We're pretty lucky in WoTLK, since it looks like two long neglected lore questions, when Tirion Fordring was going to try resurrecting the Silver Hand, and what happened to King Varian Wyrnn, are going to be answered. That doesn't mean that many more haven't been left wide open.
For example, What is up with Deathwing? If you've hung around the Dragonmaw camp at Netherwing Ledge long enough, you've probably seen them receive a certain visitor who suggests the lord of the Black Dragonflight isn't quite dead yet. There's also the issue of what Azshara is planning, and whether she is guiding the Naga and Murlocs of Azeroth to some greater, sinister purpose. It would also be nice to know what Malfurion is up to in the Emerald Dream.
Even on a "smaller" note, we have to wonder what Sylvanas wanted with those Bloodstone Relics, or what Magatha is up to. Given that it was bad enough that the Arikara came after her, and evidence points to her people being in league with the scourge-allied Razormane Quillboar and looking for ancient Necromantic knowledge, I have to think she's up to something huge.
We can only hope Blizzard will get back to these lore lines sooner rather than later, but since WoTLK is getting back to some old threads, I'd say the hope is pretty good. What lore thread bought up by a quest or another source do you want to see addressed or finished soon?

Totally agree with Scythe of Elune. I loved that questchain and was so sad when it just ended abruptly without learning where the Scythe was!

I'd like them to expand on the lore of the gnomes, or do something new with the bloodsail bucaneers and even the defias, i don't see how a bunch of level 4-35ish npc's are holding stormwind under siege
also i want to see that giant boat in DM sail and deystroy stuff :P

Hm I wouldn't be surprised if we see Deathwing in WotLK as the power behind Malygos' war against magic users. His lair (or raid dungeon ;)) might serve then as the not-Northend endgame dungeon which might be either back in Azeroth or Outland, pretty much what CoT3 and SWP are for TBC.
If the rumours are right about the 3rd expansion (Maelstrom and all that little islands or the Emerald Dream) some of the stuff mentioned in the original post might get as well a lot of treatment. But I still doubt that the Dream will get a full expansion of its own.

Uldaman quests. Not because it was a good story, but it would mean Uldum is open.

A followup to the Scythe of Elune story is on the top of my list I think.
I'd also love to see some hints on what's going on with Malfurion, in the same way that the Netherwing quests in TBC hinted that Deathwing is alive and kicking.

Azshara. Seems a bit silly that she has an entire zone named after her and her story hasn't even been fleshed out. Wrath seems like a good time to toss a new dungeon there. Maybe it could be Wrath's answer to Kara, as an entry-level 10-man?

I think Naxx is filling that role.

Ah, but that isn't fully confirmed. I think Naxx would be better suited to the equivalent of Gruul's Lair, with Naxx being the entry-level 25-man. Azshara could be the entry-level 10-man. I think that would work out better, but that's just my opinion.

I dunno that seems like you'd be selling her a bit short, Azshara queen/goddess of the naga... 10 man dungeon. I don't think she should be in Wotlk but I think this would be a good time to start making people more aware of her. I'd love to see more Grim Totem stuff. Either more stuff about the ice and dark trolls or if that doesn't work NO MORE TROLLS. I love the trolls but ZA, ZG, ZF. ST that new zone in wotlk, seriously we have enough no more!

Hmmm...perhaps. I guess she'd be better suited for a 25-man for the third expansion, The Maelstrom perhaps? Nonetheless, I'd like to see her storyline resolved through raiding. I guess Wrath might not be the best time to do it.
