The merits of WoW clothing
Friendly ribbing demanded at least a few accusations of rampant nerdery because of said shirts(most of them coming from the girl wearing a Super Mario shirt, nice try). It made me start to wonder, is wearing WoW swag really that nerdy? Is it a bad thing? I don't think so, personally. To me, it's pretty much the same as wearing a t-shirt of your favorite band. Of course, there are people that think band shirts are corny, so who knows? It's just a little sign that you're a fan, and it certainly helps that my WoW shirt is incredibly comfortable.
What about you guys? Do you own WoW gear? If you don't, do you think it's silly? Do you feel the same about band shirts and things like that, or just WoW?

My entire "casual" wardrobe consists of comic book and video game t-shirts, cargo pants, and a Dropkick Murphys hoodie that has seen too much mileage. I see no problem with being nerdy on my off-time since I am, in fact, a nerd/geek etc.
The labels are only bad if you LET them be bad.

Millions of people see no problem with plastering themselves, their cars, and even their houses with sports iconography; I see no problem with wearing a t-shirt for a game that I actually *play*, not just watch.

The other day I was walking in Brooklyn, NY and I saw a tough-looking Chicano wearing a shirt with a Horde Crest on it and a biker jacket with a patch of the shaman icon over it. He didn't look nerdy at all. It's all in how you wear it.

@5 Heck Yes, I feel the same way. Most of the people that are going to judge and label you as nerdy for your choice of past time, are into sports or their main past time is watching tv. At least with wow youre engaging your mind(some parts are mindless but overall more active than watching something) I bite my thumb at them all. I went to go see some friends in maine that happen to be guildmates too, and we just happened to be wearing a Barrens chat and bloodsail buccaneers shirt- it wasnt the first time or the last.

What are these terms being thrown around? Nerdy? Labels? Nerdcore?(lol) WoW Paraphenalia is great. Every raid the furniture(friends that never leave) and I get decked to the max with wowtastic gear. It seems to set the mood.

I have several, and it embarrasses my teenage daughter no end when a teen boy comments on them. (Yes, I'm a Mom Gamer) Comments such as "Cool shirt" aren't bad (in her eyes), but when they go on to ask me what realm, class or spec I am, she is mortified! As for myself, I'm always happy to swap WoW stories, so I love to wear my shirts!

I walked into the "Interaction Area" (Yes, I work in a grown up corporate office... and I'm technically a grown-up in my 40s.) wearing my For the Horde T-shirt. One of the women from customer service who doesn't look like a nerd in any way... saw it and said "For the Horde?!?" I briefly tried to claim it was my kid's shirt but she wasn't buying it, turns out she plays an Alliance Pally. I never ever would have guessed. O.o

I have the "More Dots!" shirt, and I love to wear it when my boyfriend (whom I met on WoW) visits, since public displays of nerdiness make him uncomfortable. :D
