Here's an interesting idea from Shaela over on the EU forums: group duels. Right now, duels aren't a huge part of the game for anyone but lowbies and immature folks looking to pick a fight -- they're very rarely done right, and there's no reward except for a zone-wide shoutout given in the event they're won. But the system could probably use an update, and group or guild duels are a great idea -- all that guild drama could be worked out ingame as whole raids or guilds could clash against each other.Slorkuz weasels his way out of a real answer by saying that this is already possible in game: places like the Gurubashi Arena do let whole groups of people fight each other however they like. He also says that Blizzard has no plans to add any features like this, but he's slightly wrong -- we did get told at Blizzcon that they were going to do more along the lines of Guild vs. Guild combat, if only in the existing BGs. This idea, along with guild housing, is still in the works somewhere, at least.
Of course, with any player interaction feature like this, there is always the opportunity for exploitation -- some players have probably refused enough duel invites in their day without having to worry about any more, and whenever you have someone "speaking" (as in, accepting or rejecting a duel) for a group in terms of PvP, you can run into trouble. But for those who really would like to know whether their guild could beat another guild, or just which raid is better than another one, a feature like this would definitely be welcomed.

They could utilize that huge ring inside of Org (for Hordies)that has not opened yet. Wasn't that kinda the point of it to begin with?

The CM didn't "weasel" his way out. This feature IS in the game. Heck, you can dual 40vs40 by bringing two raids into one of the many public arenas.
Sure you have to travel to it, but you can't simply dual in Org either... you go outside.
So if you want to do a group dual, or guild dual, or whatever (up to 40 folks each) then just travel to STV and enjoy yourself.
What's the problem here? Why is this an article?

If I am not mistaken, when you 'duel' in arenas such as Gurubushi (sp?) in STV, you don't 'duel', you fight to the death. No one wants to ghost walk over and over again just to duel.

Learn2rez?
We're talking about organized events. How hard is it to have a toon on standby to rez ya.
There would be zero repair costs because it's pvp.
Again... what are we supposed to be discussing here? Someone on the forums posted a "Hey, gimme a feature". A CM pointed out "Hey, it's already there".
End of discussion. I still don't get this. /shrug

Also, doesn't it auto-flag you for PVP, meaning any random douche could come along and butt in. Duels are supposed to be closed fights, like Arena, but less structured and without the "ZOMG if you make us lose, I won't get my epicz!"

I think what they mean is that you can duel like outside orgrimmar in big groups (or small for that matter) and not like 5v5, you choose who to fight and it is not to the death. And then its easier than to travel to STV where anyone can join the fight.

group duels,a good idea.
Its good practice and fun now with arena thing on.
Not like its hard to do,just like a duel in everywhere and like the combat in gurubashi, bam you got group duels, good fun, easy way so that same server-faction arena grps can fight and amazing practice for arena.
I like duels, they might hve been the one thing that kept me in WoW for some time, and they might be that thing il miss most when on another MMO,the 1vs1.
Honestly, blizz should do these but then, blizz is blizz, unlogical most times.

This is a very good idea in my opinion.
You could practice 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 battles in preparation for arena games for example.
This would really lighten up those boring wait times outside raid instances.
I mean my guild already resorts to duels when it takes more than 10 minutes to summon everyone and to get completely ready for action, with this function we could have a huge raid battle against eachother, of if another raid group is there as well.
Sounds very exciting!

I think it would be pretty cool to practice 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 "arena" duels. Sure, you can just skirmish, but this would allow you to set up matches outside a city or anywhere in the world. Arena matches on nagrand islands perhaps? I think that 40 man duels are a bit silly, would turn into just general world pvp.
