Draxyl from the Turalyon U.S. server submits to us his Warlock UI. It's actually very reminiscent of the UI that I had for quite some time until I upgraded my graphics card and started using a lot of alpha-blending (transparency). He uses Fubar across the top with several key pieces of information and quick to reach options, and then has the bottom of the screen filled with status indicators, chat, and action buttons.
I think it's a common theme amongst most UI enthusiasts to focus the information in one or two places. This has several benefits, from limiting eye movement when trying to pickup information, to allowing more space to see what's going on in the rest of the environment.
One thing that I don't like, and this is more of a personal taste than anything else, is the displaying of damage meters in the raid. While I think they can provide good information after the raid, having them on screen during a raid only encourages people to try to be at the top of them – and that usually means pulling agro from the tank. So again, while this is more of a personal taste, it is something that I raised my eyebrow at initially. But then again, Draxyl does do a good job at fitting the meters into the flow of the UI quite nicely.
Some of the major addons that Draxyl is using include:
- BigWigs - Raid and boss timers.
- Buffalo - Custom buff/debuff display.
- Bongos2 – Sets up many customizable action bars.
- eePanels2 - Frame helper.
- Eavesdrop - Real time combat information.
- Forte Warlock - Warlock raid/cooldown information.
- FuBar - Information bars at the bottom and/or top of your screen.
- Grid – Raid frames.
- Omen - Threat meter.
- PitBull - Unit frames.
- Prat - Chat modules.
- Quartz - Casting bars.
- Recount - Live combat log parsing.
- Skinner - Apply skins to the UI and the bottom / top of the screen.
- Squeenix - Square minimap.
- XRS - Raid status window.

Why does his UI have a "Mage QQ" percentage?
That's partially awesome, and totally confusing. Otherwise very sexy; what is that above his health?

I try to make myself top meters each and every single fight, competition is what makes top guilds the best they can be. We recently got a world fastest kill on Felmyst and Archimonde this week (http://www.wwsscoreboard.com) because of the competition. A GOOD, Competitive DPSer knows what needs to be done without looking like a fool to the rest of the raid.

nihilum aren't using wws and they are #1.
Best proof focusing on DPS does not make a guild name.
WWS are for geez, #1 wannabiz, #1 idiots.

While I agree that you should be pushing your DPS, all you need to do to be successful enough is just use your trinkets when their CD finishes, keep your spell rotations going etc. you'll be doing just fine and won't risk taking agro off the tank. Doing average but constant DPS through the whole fight is better than doing a spike of DPS at the start and then dying quickly because you took agro off the tank.

@ Mera
nihilum may not use wws but you would have to be an idiot to think they don't study their raid stats closer than anyone.
People who hate dps/heal/etc meters are usually in my experience the guys who are nowhere near the top and don't like being shown up.

i disagree with needing to be top on heals. on any dps character i make sure im on top, but with heals, as long as everyone lives, ive done my job. i tend to be top heals half the time anyway. i do agree that the competition of dps is very important in raids, and as long as you are using a threat meter, you shouldnt have to worry.

Shrug, when did I say that focusing on DPS makes a guild? I am saying that for a high-end guild to be successful there needs to be a sense of competition.
Go away, Nihilium Fanboy.

It would be really nice if these features had some information from the user on how they went about setting their screen up and the sort of settings they used. Those of us who are new to ui modding find it quite daunting trying to emulate what's on screen in these shots

Most of the mods in the SS don't require much configuring. EavesDrop, FuBar, DamageMeters, Omen, and Grid should require little to no config (other than scaling/moving.)
Try downloading the mods in the list above and playing around with them. Pitbull (for the unitframes) is probably the most complicated of them all, but don't be afraid to play around with it :).

The meters obviously matter a whole lot to this guy, the fact that he chose to send the screenshot of his 7600 shadowbolt can attest to that.
Im a mage though, so Im just jealous i guess.

Even worse: That wasn't a SB, it was Incinerate.
(Combat log in top right)
Drooling just thinking about it.

For a destruction lock, your Incinerate generally hits harder than your shadow bolt. Beautiful.

I agree with a poster above, I would love to setup that UI and try it out but I have no idea how to go about doing so. Any info how to make it happen?

Can you please post links to your WTF and Interface folders? I really like this UI and would love if you can share it so my warlock can use it too. :D
