Proudmoore gets badge vendor to 100%, chaos ensues
Chaos! That was the scene on Proudmoore as they became the first server to unlock Sunwell Isle's badge vendor. Smith Hauthaa, completely. As you might expect, every Thrall, Jaina and Larry who'd been saving up Heroic Badges descended on the vendor to cash out, and from what we're told by reader Sync, it was madness.
Madness? This is the Sunwell! Surely this is just temporary -- as people get those badges turned in, Hauthaa's popularity will drop back down to much more managable levels. But as you can see from the gallery below, everyone and their alt showed up to buy from the vendor, and there was lots of world PvP, low framerates, and even a server shutdown (we hear) to show for it. Whenever your server opens up, whether you're looking for Warlock, Hunter, Druid, or any other Badge Loot gear, you may just want to wait an hour or two until people settle down and realize that they'll have a long time to buy new Professor Plums with badges.

Awesome.
Alexstrasza should have it open by the time I get home from work. It was 93% when I logged out last night.
I'm gonna get some welfare epics!

My bad. I mis-understood the whole phases thing. We've entered the phase that now lets us unlock the vendor ... but she's just standing there making us do quests or something.

Kalecgos is barely 50% through phase 2, we've still probably got a month till it opens :(

True... but how many hours do we have to PvP with new weapons that are very close to S3?
Gogo Proudmoore!

Well, that's one advantage of being in an over-crowded server...

Badge loot is Welthfare Epix for Raiders - just like Honor loot is Wealthfare Epix for Casuals.
Sucks - I'm stuck in between. I have some S1 gear, a couple Kara epics and 43 Badges of Justice, which doesn't buy anything from the new vendor.
yay...

Im guessing griefers putting PVP on and standing over the badge vendor.. seems to have become quite a popular past-time :S

Heh, it was crowded like that BEFORE the badge vendor opened up.
What you are seeing there is just verification of John Gabriel's GIF Theory (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19/)
People were just amused at how irritating they could make it for people trying to get the anvil open, and then trying to do turn-ins. General chat at the time was full of angst, mostly over whether or not the new badge turn-ins were fair, over how irritatating the people blocking the turn-ins were, and how satisfying it was to block other people doing turn-ins.

On a side note, let me add in the key of Homer Simpson
We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world

For those wondering, we did not have a server shutdown.

Yeah there was no shutdown, but it looked like the server was going to do itself in. All those on Proudmoore know what I'm talking about when it comes to the general stability of our home.
But damn the amount of people there. My quadcore with a 8800gt was struggling to get 6 frames. Funny stuff tho. Was an enchanters utopia last night.

And those of us on Proudmoore know that unstability is normal. Its getting so bad, we are learning how to use lag to our favor :)
Not that we would dream of going anywhere else.
