This might be confusing to some people expecting to go in and make a mirror of the patch for guildies and friends, or copying the files over to multiple computers to cut down on the update time.
Patch 2.4 sounds great, but what's in it for you? Find out on our Sunwell Isle page where we list the impact on classes, professions, PvP, Raiders and many other playstyles and interests. Looking for more great info? Check out the WoW Insider Directory for the best of our guides and analysis. In particular, in the new C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft directory, you want to go one step further into the Patches folder, and then into the WoW-2.3.3-to-2.4.0-enUS-Win-patch folder. There you'll see three files:
- BNUpdate.exe
- wow-final.MPQ
- wow-partial-1.MPQ
Mac OS X has not changed. The patch files are still stored under the World of Warcraft/patches directory.
Please remember that WoW Insider cannot make any guarantee the above technical information will work. But with that said, the above information works for me as of March 25th at about 4:30 p.m. CST.

Can you delete these files after the patch has been installed?
If it matters, I'm on OS X.

AFAIK yeah, but I'd back them up, or get the 2.4 full patch and back that up, in case you ever have to reinstall your system stuff, or WoW You'll probly need a DVD now though

Yeah, I had that problem as well, someone at Blizzard forgot to update the path info for the full patch download. The other noteworthy bit of news is that the 2.4 PTR's also saved all the incremental patches during testing into the public documents directory. This is significant because those files are actually entirely useless (there's no reason I can think of why you'd want to install an old PTR client) and taking up space.

Seems that therefore if you've bothered to download the patch on background downloader you have to actually copy it from the users location to the actual patch folder that was initially created in the WoW folder in order to NOT have to download the entire patch again on the day. GG Blizzard.

Grats on using Vista. I use it too and don't have any issues at all. Then again I have only seen it run well on a Core 2 Duo.
