There's no lore or backstory for Angelista, she's not really a lore figure at all. Like Foror and Styleen, Angelista is a just a little plug for a Blizzard employee, or friend/family member of a Blizzard employee. We don't know exactly who she is, but it's fun to see all of the signs pointing to her that crop up. Ahn'Qiraj, Stratholme(see above), Blackwing Lair, and now the Sunwell.
Even though I know there's no real lore for Angelista, I have a mind obsessed with story telling, so I started to wonder what she would be like if she was a Warcraft figure. Her name sounds like a Priest, but her equipment definitely isn't priest-like. There's cloth belts in BWL and Mount Hyjal, a melee DPS ring in 2.4, a tanking ring and healing neck in Ahn'Qiraj... the only classes Angelista could possibly be are a very, very confused Shaman, Paladin or Druid.
Of course, Angelista apparently had a shop in Stratholme: Angelista's Boutique. She couldn't be a Druid or a Shaman, Humans don't know much about being either of those. Maybe she didn't wear this gear at all, and was actually a master crafts(wo)man. Jewelcrafter/Tailor, selling her wares in Stratholme. Adventurers made their purchase(first generation badge gear?), went out to see the world, and were inevitably slaughtered by the great evils in all corners of Azeroth.
Where is Angelista now, though? Did she survive the great culling of Stratholme? Will we see her in the Caverns of Time: Stratholme? Am I thinking about this way too much? Probably!

WoWInsider has a weird mix of very informative articles on the state of WoW, and raving-fanboy obsessions about some insignificant detail of the game.
I'll let you guess on which side of the fanboy fence this article falls...

I believe what you're trying to say is that "it has something for everyone."
Right?

Moron, you're reading a weblog about a freaking video game and you want to look down on someone else for being a fanboy? You're hilarious.

Since I've found that Boutique in Stratholme, and saw BWL drop for the first time, I always wondered who she is :) Being unable to answer this question, I decided that she is some epic goods vendor in Strat, sad thing - in new CoT instance, she is gonna be undead boss probably. dropping some blues and maybe epics on heroic mode. what a waste...

Sometimes we get blinded by the hugeness of WoW, missing these little interesting corners of the game.
Good article :D

Angelista's items
Angelista is listed in the "Special Thanks" section of the WoW credits, and is most likely a friend or relative of a Blizzard staff member. She's had 5 items named after her: Angelista's Charm, Angelista's Grasp, Angelista's Touch, Angelista's Revenge, and Angelista's Sash. There also is a shop in Stratholme (you can't enter) that used to belong to a person named Angelista as you can read her name on the shield hanging atop the former entrance.

5 items and a store named after her in what was formerly the most popular cap level 5 man? She must be doing some hefty leg work to get that kind of reward from 'Special Thanks'

This might sound a little stupid on who this person is.. But hey at least it's a stub in the dark..
I think it was some girl who was either a daughter or wife or even a mother someone who works for blizzard that has passed away.. Since if u read each of the items and the location of the shop..
She was spread around the world, so she wouldn't be forgot about..
But hey anyones guess is good as mine.

I also believe that in Warcraft 3 there was a shop (In an Orc campaign?) named after her as well.

It's the name of a Blizzard employee's friend or family member I believe. I'm not sure who or what relation.
We are building a forum of extraordinary magnitude.

I'm willing to bet she's someone's matriarchal mother-in-law actually.
Reasoning for this:
Angelista's Charm, Grasp and Sash are all Cloth items with Healing / Caster stats, suggesting a clothie over a druid / shammy / paladin (even though some choose to wear cloth items when specced for healing).
On this line I'd guess it's a Discipline Spec Priest who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty (hence Revenge and Touch's dps/tanking stats).
I wouldn't be surprised if whatever robe they make for this set looks like it's Plate.
