Both are inarguably amazing feats of power leveling. How did Tosog do it? Well, if you speak German, you tell me:
EU poster Mortari of Stormscale roughly translated Tosog's report. Tosog has a lot of help from friends and guild members. He would tag monsters and then people who were not partied with him would kill them. Teams of Warlocks arranged transportation from point to point. The time played was not consecutive, and Tosog made use of the rested experience point bonus whenever possible. I still find it impressive.
This makes me wonder how much play time was actually spent on the character. If nothing else, this record represents an amazing team effort. Many players should be given credit for this accomplishment. Glückwünsche auf Ihrem erstaunlichen Zustandebringen. (Congratulations on the awesome achievement.)
(Should you chose to click the video link. I recommend that you do so when slightly inebriated and away from work. I believe that most of us can avoid tip number six.)
Update: Not to be outdone Athene and Mineva of EU Stromscale have broken this record again with an impressive 26 hour and 31 minute run. Thanks for passing this on, Itsaorc.

i'm pretty sure i can't.
:-P
i find these achievements fascinating in terms of the logistics that have to go into them... optimal quest paths, coordinating a group, etc.
but yeah... do it solo and then i'll be truly impressed.

I heard Athene did not use rested experience. Making him still the winner imo.

I don't understand German but I can use BabelFish!
"How is that possible? By very exact planning and extremely much assistance of GIldenkollegen and friends (with T6 Equip). A mobilization I never completely gekillt, I it only first fastened and it then from Gildenkollegen, which were not in my group kill let. Long footpaths I saved, by having organized Hexer Portteams at all possible positions. In addition I played only at night, since to few it is loose here and I was safe to 90% that the necessary Mobs for the Quests was also all there. Naturally I as often used the Rested bonus as possible, even if the majority of the received experience of deliver the Quests came. I thereby by Guides of Jame www.wow pro.com and/or starting from 65 of tentonhammer.com held yourself. Tosog was my 5. Char which I on the basis this Guides highly gelevelt, therefore I knew all Lokalitaeten already by heart."

I think it is from 1 to 70... not from 0...
From the article it is clear that it was not a show of WoW-Play skills but rather organizational skill...
But anyway... nice... I'm trying to get to 70 with my first character (again after stopping on 56 hunter) and I wish I could do faster...

In my experience, organization can be one of the most crucial skills you'll ever use in WoW.
I don't care how many people he used, being able to do this is freaking amazing.

"0 to 70" is a gag. Check out vehicle speed benchmarking sometime.

In the car you have "speed" 0... in the game you start from 1
There is always the discussion about what is the start of natural numbers (literal translation from Polish... not sure the name of it in English) ... 0 or 1 ;-)

The German text (roughly) translates to:
"""
This was done thanks to precise planning and help of my guildies and friends (T6 equipped). I've never killed a single mob by myself, I just hit it once and the non-grouped helpers finished it.
I avoided long ways / travelling by help of Warlocks that ported me to strategic places. In addition I only played during the night, thus avoiding crowded zones and non available quest mobs.
I also made advantage of the resting bonus, but the most of the XPs were gained by solving quests.
I used the leveling guides on www.wow-pro.com and (from lvl65 on) tentonhammer.com.
"Tosog" is my 5. char I leveled using these guides and so I already knew the quests and places.
All in all (planning, organisation etc.) it took me more time to get this char to 70 than playing it the "normal" way (with about 5-7 days /played).
"""
I'm no native speaker but I hope it helps.

Thanks alot for that! Its alot clearer than the babelfish version.
The fact that he would tag things and his friends would kill them makes alot of sense. This gets rid of two things. 1) Downtime, run tag and repeat. have a friend drop a hot on you and you never have to eat/drink. 2) No need to learn skills, repair, buy reagents, whatever. Downtime takes up the majority of time you play. Thats the trick to quick leveling, eliminate as much downtime as possible.

Funny thing that Athene is so spitting on Joanna video which was done before making lvling easier (2.3.0 patch) and till now is the only video showing someone lvling in record time from the beginning till the end solo without any external help.
Athene hasn't show any video yet so till then his record is just babbling. Also from what we know now he did it with external help so Joanna record still stands.
So better luck next time ego man

I agree ..
Joana, "normal" levelling done fast = skill
being boosted = not individual skill, just a group boost

It's a bug.. the timer only shows around a quarter of the time you've actually played when you keep switching in and out of the instances.
Don't ask my why it happens but it does. :D
