Drysc
reports that a number of realms are under investigation for performance issues and will be undergoing a scheduled maintenance at 5:00 AM
PDT on Wednesday, March 12 with a foreseeable downtime of 1 hour (
update: Zorayn notes that downtime will be extended to 2 hours as opposed to one). As Drysc edits the thread, realms are added (or removed) regularly. From a quick perusal of the realms, it seems as though it is the Nightfall
Battlegroup that is affected. Blizzard currently lists the affected realms as follows:
Aerie Peak
Altar of Storms
Alterac Mountains
Anvilmar
Arygos
Blackwing Lair
Deathwing
Demon Soul
Doomhammer
Gnomeregan
Icecrown
Jaedenar
Kel'Thuzad
Lethon
Onyxia
Sentinels
Tanaris
The Venture Co
Uldaman
Undermine
Drysc further notes that other Battlegroups are under close observation and will be taken down for maintenance should any issues arise that might require it.

Man, Uldaman's always under maintenance. I remember when I used to play on that server, it was always down. It still regularly goes under maintenance.
wtf, mate?

Not sure if its a coincidence or not, but paid character transfers are also down at this time. All that Blue could tell me is that they had no eta as of this posting.

don't panick... this is the nightfall battlegroup, if you have a short memory, the shadowburn group had a bit of extended maintenance last week. They are avoiding doing extended work on all the servers at once and causing huge downtime by doing a battlegroup a week
Reading too deep into it would be a bit silly

Llane (US PvE) was lagging about 2 to 3 minutes with every loot last night. It was horrible.

Absolutely terrible last night. You couldn't loot. You couldn't turn in quests. You stood by helplessly as your toon died spectacularly at the hands of 3 air elementals. (Happened to someone else, I swear. .>) Guildies got transported to odd locations, one of them winding up, he says, just outside of Dalaran before poofing and making it to Southshore, his original destination. Several guildies got stuck in trees or rocks with the "Unstuck" option seemingly disabled. Chat worked fine, however, so you didn't miss any Chuck Norris or Murloc at the Movies jokes.

Kael'thas was having some seriously issues. I was trying to farm leather, and finally just gave up and watched tv. The looting was bugged, mailboxes, AH, etc.

Wish they'd do some maintenance on Alexstrasza; after doing a group of trash in Mech everyone started lagging. I wasn't able to loot (just remained in the crouch), the rogue was dead, yet still moving around, and to my eyes the healer was at 5% hp and mana. I couldn't zone out of Mech. When I forced WoW to quit and tried logging back in, I was told my character was already in the world.
Spent more time dealing with lag than we spent doing the instance.

gotta be patient, it looks like they are doing this one battlegroup at a time to limit the inconvenience and qq over downtime

On Runetotem last night, it was odd. Die, and able to rez immediately. A few minutes later, beamed to the gy, alive. Or, run to corpse from gy, and just before you get ther, beamed back to gy.

I think the whole Ruin battlegroup was experiencing similar issues.

I'm surprised not to see Tichondrius on the list. World server crashed once last night and was still buggy after the reset. I wonder if there was an extra script run on Tuesday.
