March 12th PTR changes

A
new PTR build hit the test realms today, and just in time for the
second stress test that'll be getting underway later tonight. A few of the big highlights:
- The Druid Cyclone spell has had the range reduced to 20 yards, from 30 yards.
- The newly purchasable epic gem crafting patterns have had their prices dramatically increased. For example, the epic gem patterns used to cost 1.5g each to buy, now they're 50g each. This will make them harder for casual players to acquire.
- A few BoP crafted items have had a profession requirement of 350 placed on them.
All in all, it looks like Blizzard is winding down the changes. They seem to be targeting some very specific areas right now, and the list of changes each week is getting shorter and shorter. This might mean the patch will be going live soon. And remember, as soon as it goes live, we'll select a winner from the
Patch 2.4 release date contest we held.
Any thoughts on the cyclone change? I for one am happy, considering how
I hate being cycloned in arena battles.

Welcome to World Of Arenacraft, where abilities that are very handy in PVE will receive nerfs that reduce their PVE usability dramatically because they seem OP in arenas. Moonkin who seem to be more ignored than even the Elemental Shaman are (A Moonkin revolt is in progress on the official forums and yet i have seen no coverage of it here) see the Cyclone change as yet another slap in the face of a Spec that has VERY limited CC abilities in the first place. Blizz really should consider placing Arena specific rules in place for the various spells and abilities it considers OP as such but leaving the abilities alone for PVE/BG/World PVP.

I cyclone often in heroic 5 mans. It gives the rest of my crew enough time to DPS one mob and then they pick up my cyclone. Really helpful for large pulls. So yeah, this is a dumb PvE change. But oh well, if this is what Blizzard wants to focus on, so be it.
You got PvP in my PvE!
You got PvE in my PvP!

10 yrds in PvE is no big deal....and if you're relying on cyclone as your groups cc...or even a boomkin as your dps...u got bigger problems anyway...(yes i kno some can pull it off..but most cant dps as boomkin for sh^t)..in arena 10 yrds is alot..druids hate being in close combat so they tend to stay as far as possible and just spam hots/cyclone while being out of range...at least this will help bring them into the combat

20-30 yard range is relatively small. Cyclone will be overpowered until it's dispellable. Why it's not? I have no idea whatsoever.

Dispel cyclone? Sorry but there is plenty of CC in the game that you just can't do anything about, I don't see why you don't understand. There are already diminishing returns on cyclone. Judging from your comments I'm going to guess that you are a hunter.

I'm all for making Cyclone dispellable as long as you give it the same hold time as polymorph.

There is nothing else in the game is only removable by trinket. It's not classified as anything, and isn't removable by anything. That's simply overpowered.

Now I know your a hunter, because you conveniently forgot that Freezing Trap can't be dispelled. How about this, cyclone can be dispelled when Bestial Wrath can be dispelled too.

Are you sure there aren't stuns or incapacitates?

Randomdruid, I play both a hunter and a priest, so I know that the Freezing Trap places a magical debuff on the individual that steps into it that can be removed with Cleanse and Dispel.

Boo hoo.. poor casuals.. 50g.. I don't know how they'll ever manage. The 10 minutes a day it takes to do 3 daily quests is just too much to ask for an epic JC design.
This crying, whining and cries for nerfs is going to get this game turned into Hello Kitty Adventure Island soon.

I don't think there is any QQing going on, just a simple observation that the gems will be harder for a casual player to now acquire - which I think will make the harder core players happy.

Not sure why this comment got modded down. If they were 500g I could understand the comment about casual players. But 50g? Give me a break...that's like 30 minutes of farming in Nagrand. Unless casual means someone who plays like 20 minutes per week, the price increase isn't a big deal to anyone.

The total cost for all the jewelcrafting items is 1823 gold with the exalted discount. How many hours of daily quests is that again? Hello increased gold seller spam.

Just buy the patterns you want. DPS casters can just buy the spell damage cuts. If you're cheap, just get someone else to cut the gems for you. I really don't see how this caters to "hardcore" players vs "casual" players. If you run enough heroics or raids to get all the badges you need for the raw gems, you're "hardcore" enough to be able to afford 50g a pattern.
Besides, the current blue BoE recipes go for upwards of 300-400g anyway.

Which 3 Dailies can be done in only 10 minutes total? Can you tell me that? I'd like to do them.

In response to RogueJedi86:
Blade's Edge Mountains - Bomb them Again, Wrangle More Aether Rays, Relics Emanation - all can easily be accomplished in under ten minutes.
You can finish the Skyguard and Ogrilla dailies in around 45 minutes to an hour, pending competition around the Skettis prisoner.
That will net you close to 80g and can be achieved solo.

feels like ten minutes, but if you watch your clock its really not

The dailies totally depends on other people and how busy it is. Skettis egg bombing is almost always fine, can be done in 5-10 min. Prisoner is just dicey, you can spend 30 min or an hour looking for him and getting a group and getting ninjaed....Wrangling is the worst of the ogri'las when there is competition. Without competition its quite easy. Simon says is cake, as is bomb them again. Demon banishing is a bit more dependant on crowd issues. But yeah those 3 in ogrila can be done in 10 min without traffic, I just did them today (provided you are there already). Its probably the most gold/minute in the entire game, aside from DEing stuff from the AH or something.
