So I was out working on heroic Steam Vaults with some friends last night. Like usual Hydromancer Thespia was being a pain, and we wiped a couple of times. On one of the death walks back, fellow guildie Agate and I meet up with another group of ghosts running over to Coilfang Reservoir. Nothing new there.
Except Agate noticed a couple of guys running behind him. After a bit of moving around he confirmed that they were in fact on auto-follow.
"Hahaha, look at this, these two guys are following me. Should I have some fun?" he asks over vent.
"Yes!" the rest of the group answers back enthusiastically. After all, what better cure for the wiping blues than playing with someone on auto-follow? So off we go, merrily rolling along as ghosts to the outer reaches of Hellfire Peninsula, dragging this slacker along with us. When you're watching the video, Agate is in the lead, the auto-follower is in the middle, and I'm in the back on Osullivan.
Now granted, this might not have been the nicest thing to do – but neither is auto following a character that not only isn't in your group, but one that you don't know. The autofollow function is great for dual boxing and helping people along with quick /afks during raids. But auto following can be a dangerous thing, as is demonstrated in the video.
Eventually the person playing the toon was rezzed, just as we were about to bring him over to Thrallmar and then off to the twisting nether.
What do you think of auto-follow? Every have anyone follow your ghost around?

Ahahaha once I realized where you were taking him I started laughing really hard. That was pretty epic.
I once was riding along through Zangarmarsh getting the Zabra'jin flightpath and this dude started autofollowing me who I'd never seen before. So I decided to have some similar fun. I go him all the way to Oshu'Gun before he came back and started cursing at me. XD

I did something similar to a guildmate when we were questing in Feralas. He said he had to go make dinner and asked if he could auto-follow for mob exp and shared cash... Plan hatched so I didn't ask what I'd get out of it.
40 minutes later he came back, stuck between trees in Moonglade, with me happily killing things back in Tanaris, muhahahaha
He saw the fun in it... eventually

Actually the guy didn't catch my name, but he did catch Osullivan's, so it was Sully who got a bunch of /whispers. None of which are printable here.

Lmao... Autofollow IS a dangerous thing. Back when I was still in my levelteens, I set myself on autofollow on one of my Guildmates, a Nelf druid. He was showing me around Darkshore heading towards some decently difficult quests for the time - I needed a quick break so trusted my character to the loving care of the Druid.
Of course, autofollowing on a precarious corner on the pier was too much for him to resist, so he did a running jump over a corner quite visually laughing as he did so. I come back from the bathroom and found that my Nelf was stuck behind a pillar in the sea, getting attacked by a Darkshore thresher.
Being the friendly nieghbourhood Druid that he was, my guild mate patiently sat on the edge of the pier, healing me...
... Whilst calling me a dumbass.

One time when I was heading into Kara I ran into a guild member also on headed there in Deadwind. He decided to /follow me just for the hell of it and I, like I always do, jumped off the cliff overlooking the mansion. I'm a mage. He... wasn't. We had a good laugh on guild chat.
