Do you need a new beginning? It's kind of tempting to go roll on a realm where nobody's been out of the noob zones yet, where the Dark Portal has yet to be traversed by players and everything is ripe for the conquering. But then again, it's also nice to be on a realm with a mature economy and people I know, so I will probably not be rushing out to Cairne myself. I know, however, that many of you have been clamoring for a new realm for some time -- go to it.
Update: Bornakk adds that there are no plans for new PvP realms, "as there are several low population PvP realms you can transfer or re-roll on right now."

It's too bad there are no actual true PVE or RP servers.
They're all just PVP hybrids to me. I want to collaborate with any race against NPC's, and not even have PVP exist on my server.

Man, I would love that. If I could play on a server where I could waltz into Orgrimmar on a human mage and we all spoke common, I'd be pleased as punch. I'd still play on my PvP server, but I'd like something really different.

Another ghost-town. I rolled on one of the new PVP servers that launched when TBC came out (Coilfang?) and even the influx of players from the expansion pack couldn't keep that server alive. I have a feeling there'll be a lot of people rolling on Cairne, with most of them abandoning their alts after they realize how boring it is to level them up, with a few OCD people racing to be the first to 70.

I thought the gates were auto-opened on all new realms ever since 2.2 or 2.3.

I'm pretty sure you can still complete the questline to get the bug though. I may be completely wrong.

Neat. As someone who came in way too late to the game, leveling up on a fresh server sounds like an interesting concept.

I just rolled 5 Night Elf hunters and 5 Blood Elf hunters on that server and named them all the variations of the name "Legolas" I could think of.

I can't believe they don't have a server named Cairne already. They've used just about every other lore character, organization, and location for server names. I think the next one is going to be called "Griftah".

Our whole guild would pay to transfer to the Griftah server.

Oh man ... yet another distraction from my pre-2.4 goals!
Must fight urge to re-roll on fresh server ... must avoid desire to open the gates of An'Quiraj ... must ... not ... re-roll!

So many choices...

As a founding member of what was and may still be the largest Alliance guild on the server (Genesis) I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it. Within minutes of the guild starting the talk turned to how to "get into raiding". [Flashback to my brother deciding to "get into jazz" by buying a Sting CD.] The guild leader, who to be fair seems like a nice guy, had this gem: "level 20 needed to raid".
Imagine if an entire server was Goldshire and Barrens and all in one guild. Two hours of non-stop laughter. "we wil be legenray!" "Ron Paul rocks we rule!" "Assssssssssss where can I buy a gun?" Had four people gquit and ask for re-invites within the first hour. Rank promotions for getting more to join and calls to donate toward a guild bank.
I had a chat channel going with a few members where we shared our enjoyment of the general idiocy.
One important and problematic thing happened. A lot of genuinely new first-ever-toon players were showing up on the server (and as a result in the guild). Blizzard was recommending them Cairne. A terrible idea on many levels. Took each aside for a quick, "This isn't a quality guild and getting started on a new server will be difficult. Happy to answer any questions". Response ranged from "this place rocks!" to "Thank god, I was about to uninstall this game."
Cairne is currently the place for online yucks. Highly recommended. Only downside is remembering to type cairne instead of the real word cairn. I'll never have that down.
