WoW quests seem to be pretty formulaic. "Bring me some number of this item or kill that number of mobs." I guess there only so many types of quests that the developers can make. In order to ensure that you get enough experience from some quests, they assign a ridiculously low drop rate. Sometimes I think there are sensors in the keyboard that measure one's level of the frustration by how hard you hit the keys. Once you reach a certain threshold, the item drops. I'm probably wrong about that.
There are some really fun quests in the game. My favorite is Ally of the Netherwing. You don't really have to do anything for the quest, since you've already killed Zuluhead the Whacked. You just take a ride on a Netherdrake and get an awesome reward, a stack of gold, and oodles of reputation. Ok, so I really just like the dragon ride.
I also like Mission: Gateways Murketh and Shaadraz and Mission: The Abyssal Shelf. There's something awesome about flying about doing massive amounts of damage. Although it's still a taxi service, at least you get to do something from the air. Although it's still a kill-count quest, it seems different from the others.
What are your favorite quests?

Great quest in Feralas where you HAVE to buy a Parachute in order to get down.
No xp for this quest, but it's still uber fun.

Favorite by far is The Fel and The Furious in SMV, where you take control of a Fel Reaver, and bomb the crap out of infernals. This all starts from Legion Hold, just outside of Wildhammer Stronghold. Ever since BC came out and I saw a Fel Reaver, I wanted one, and this is a close as you get. Plus the rewards are pretty good, for those just hitting 70 or about to. Especially for Druid, Shaman, and Pally, if just for having the option of other Relics, if you decide to respec

I loved the alchemist series in Tarren Mill, just for the quest dialog.
Every time I see an alchemist society member, I hope to see another in the line of those quests.

The Tirion Fordring questline is probably one of my favorites, and the Linken quest line. The easter eggs throughout the quest (Hungry Goroya anyone?) are worth as much as the XP. I just did it on my warlock even though it wasn't terribly efficient to do for XP (lots of running around).
I actually have to give a nod to the new Dustwallow quest "Take Down Tethyr!"with the Lurker-alike mob invading. I didn't read about the quest and it was the last thing I was expecting. The darkening clouds and all the NPCs coming out gave it an unexpectedly epic feel for a quest of that level. Big thumbs up on the zone in general.

My Favorite:
Forging the UBRS key. You mind control a dragon.
This was done in the early days when it took an obscene number of LBRS runs to get all 3 gems. The owners of this ring were either very lucky or officers of a large guild.

I love anything with a decent storyline. The Stalvan series on alliance, and the whole story of Duskwood and their, um, issues. The draeni quest where you get turned into different creatures and learn another language. (More of those, please!) Tirion always makes me think, "awww, poor guy." (He needs furniture, pls, kkthnx...) I love big endings, whether you are the hero of Blood Watch or the new monarch of the ogres in Blades Edge. I like when the NPCs change their attitude toward you after you finish a quest, like in Tranquillian, or the rogue's headquarters in Hillsbrad. And of course, anything with a show - the Lady's Necklace, finding out why the owlbeasts went nuts in Winterspring. I love the new and improved Dustwallow Marsh for both alliance and horde, because some of the quests are just DIFFERENT feeling.

The end of the Hero of the Mag'Har quest line. Good god, that was the most rewarding quest scene ever. The WCIII cinematic it's based off of gets me every. time.

I recently did the Scryer version of 'Turning Point' where one has to slain Socrethar and I must say it was quite fun to two-man (holy priest, fire mage) it. At first, we thought that it may not be possible to do it without a proper tank but due to scarcity of time, we just went ahead and knocked him down.

- The (ungimped) prisoner quest in Zul'Farrak. Classic great wow moment.
- Alliance Onyxia quest, the end of it (it's great when walking through Stormwind and everyone is hailing you, great!)
- End of the quest chain where Thrall comes to Nagrand (Hero of the Mag'Har quest line?)
- Tirion Fordring questline
- The Lady's Necklace
- Turning in Onyxia's head for the first time

The Fallen Hero of the Horde questline was epic, took me across 5 or 6 zones, both old world continents and gained nearly a whole level of XP.
I also particularly enjoyed my Alliance paladin's lvl 20 quest to receive the Bastion of Stormwind - where you have to protect an NPC in Westfall from waves of Defias attackers. Fun, and a great sense of accomplishment.

Without doubt; the Battle of Darrowshire. It's got a great build up, lots of lore, and it even tugs at the heart strings when everything is said and done and you've brought a little redemption back to the damned.
And I suppose I'll be a sap for saying it, but the children's day quests were pretty cool too. Especially the bit where you're in the cavern's of time and the guardians start charging the kid, or when you start hearing tidbits about the child's potential future...

Since I haven't seen this one mentioned- The exalted Timbermaw furbolg quest. I decided I was going to get this done on my hunter leatherworker since I had never done it on any other character, and literally spent forever grinding the furbolgs from level 47 to about 56ish, then turning in the feathers and everything so that it was done in the 'best' way. I did require help from some higher levels to kill the demon it spawns at the end. Having Thrall shout my character's name over Orgrimmar was a great moment as I'm a total Thrall fangirl and a bunch of people yelling Hail and whispering congratulations made it even better. :) The guardian STILL saves my butt at 68 occasionally when it heals me while I'm busy healing my pet and trying to let it get aggro back.

1) Raene's cleansing, until I get the Furbolg rod, and keep it :D
2) The quest with the satyr in the night elf starting area, and the followup, when you trick him and turn him into a frog :)
There are many, I like lots, but there is not enough space to list them all.

Finally, someone mentioned this.
I got such a laugh out of this questline... granted I did it on my 70 main, but just the level of detail that Blizz puts into the most unlikely things is encouraging.
Fel and the Furious was great fun. I've been doing netherwing dailies for months so maybe they've lost their charm...
