WoW quests seem to be pretty formulaic. "Bring me some number of this item or kill that number of mobs." I guess there only so many types of quests that the developers can make. In order to ensure that you get enough experience from some quests, they assign a ridiculously low drop rate. Sometimes I think there are sensors in the keyboard that measure one's level of the frustration by how hard you hit the keys. Once you reach a certain threshold, the item drops. I'm probably wrong about that.
There are some really fun quests in the game. My favorite is Ally of the Netherwing. You don't really have to do anything for the quest, since you've already killed Zuluhead the Whacked. You just take a ride on a Netherdrake and get an awesome reward, a stack of gold, and oodles of reputation. Ok, so I really just like the dragon ride.
I also like Mission: Gateways Murketh and Shaadraz and Mission: The Abyssal Shelf. There's something awesome about flying about doing massive amounts of damage. Although it's still a taxi service, at least you get to do something from the air. Although it's still a kill-count quest, it seems different from the others.
What are your favorite quests?

Lies. No one likes that questchain. It's like biologically impossible to enjoy it or something. :P

I am enjoying the Netherwing quests. Lots of dailies to choose from, the racing is fun, and I like the way that you get a few quests each rep level so as not to make it the same 4 dailies every day with no change. (Ogri'la, I'm looking at you)
Some days I booterang, sometimes I poison while I do that, some days I turn in my crystals, knock the guys out of the skies for the relics, or go to Nagrand and kill some agents. Makes the grind go a little easier.

The racing ones are fun... apart from the last two. The second last is bad, and the final one is....
/shudder
I had to finish it eventually just for closure's sake. The fact that every time you try Skyshatter /shouts across the whole zone is kind of embarrassing too.

All Blelfadin quests have really exciting lore.
Other than that I really enjoyed the Plaguelands quests. All 50-60 areas seem to have an epic feel to them (the volcanic part of Winterspring, Stratholme, the Scarlet Crusade strongholds in the Plaguelands, insects swarming over Silithus, Blackrock Mountain looming over the Burning Steppes and perhaps even both sides of the dark portal Hellfire Pen./Blasted Lands), a sense which even the L70 areas lack.
Oh, and the Tirion Fordring questchain in EPL was really satisfying.

Some of my favorites are the ones where I have to help people rescue things that I enjoy. For instance as I enjoy chewing tobacco I loved the one in Booty Bay where you have to help the pirate find his dip. Also the one in Blades Edge where you have to help the dead troll get his hookah back because I also enjoy... well I'm a big fan of smoking tobacco from hookahs.

I think that hookah quest does it for me because the quest giver is a troll in the ground with his head poking out. rofl I thought it was a bug when I first saw him.

I feel bad saying it, since not a lot of people have seen it (and I don't want to be an elitist stupidpants), but the Akama/Black Temple questline was definately my favorite in Outland. I'm a sucker for voice over, and one of the cut scenes actually made me cry.
In all fairness, I cry at the Little Mermaid, but still.
In Azeroth, my favorite will always be Tirion Fordring's line, and I can't WAIT to see it pick up again in Northrend. That made me cry too!
... I cry easily.

I like quests that make me learn more about the lore and history of the Warcraft universe. Those that come to mind are:
- the early level quests in Tirisfal Glades that show how various people are coping with being turned into undead.
- the last quest in Bloodmyst Isle, when all the questgivers there come to greet you for destroying the Blood Elves' portal.
- the Mor'Ladim quest chain in Duskwood (even though it makes me run back and forth all over the zone).
- the quest in Honor Hold that makes you destroy some cannons to save Thrallmar, nice to see the Alliance questgiver admiting that the Horde are important in the fight against the Burning Legion
- the introductory quest to Shattrath (yes, the one where you follow Khadgar's summon around)
- the introductory quest to CoT

Yeah, it cracks me up when I see people following Khadgar's guardian thing around Shatt.

"The Lady's Necklace" from the Ghostlands. I'll stay and listen to the entire song. The first time I did it was a total surprise, and I was very impressed with how much thought had been put into what could have been a fairly standard side quest.
Awesome tune.

Seconded. If I am in UC and I hear her start I make a beeline for the throne room, sit down and just watch and listen.

I thought it was such a great bridge to the rest of the Horde too. Yes, it was run around and say hi to Thrall and the gang, but it was such a beautiful opening it all tied together so well...

Without a doubt, the best quest ever. The lore, the design, the music... simply beautiful (the only thing that wrecks it is the NE model of Sylvanas, but just the melody forgives all). It's a shame that one have to roll Horde to have such a magnificent quest, I'm looking forward for a Alliance version of it.

Have to agree. Was really surprised when I came by it. Got me digging into the lore behind Lady Sylvanas, which strangely touched me.
