We all know patch 2.4 is going to center around a new zone in Azeroth, the Isle of Quel'Danas. But did you know there was a new Outlands area as well? I didn't either, until we got a tip from loyal reader Austin. This new area is called Razorthorn Rise, and apparently sits between Hellfire Peninsula and Terokkar Forest, just above Razorthorn Shelf. The tip says it's full of level 70 ravagers and flayers, and speculates that the ravagers would make good Hunter pets.I wasn't able to turn up any more information about this area, aside from one new daily quest that mentions it, where a Shattered Sun Offensive NPC sends you to the area to collect five "Razorthorn Roots." Sounds like a ground pick-up. The quest is filed under Terokkar Forest, so I'd guess that's where Razorthorn Rise officially resides. Does anyone know anything else about this zone?
Update: Maybe not a new area after all. Still, this is the first I've heard of it.

It's already in the game currently. Although to be honest I also accidentally discovered it while flying on my druid.
Didn't notice anything special though.

The area itself has been in game a long time (at least 6 months), just empty.

I'm pretty sure you answered your own question--it's simply a new area that was created specifically for a daily quest.

It seems to be already there in live, just no mobs there, and no subzone name for it.

It's another one of those locations where you're sure something eventually will show up. The first thing that leaped into my mind was the bottom of Kalimdor, where a fully designed horde village with an ever burning fire exists, but no mobs. It might become home to the likes of trolls or orcs or ogres since I remember a cave in the cliffs.
U'ldum is like that and there are a few gryphons I fly over on various routes but you can't fly to them. I like that, even if it's maddening because you can't find out anything about the location. It means there may be plans to expand into those areas.

I checked it out on the PTR. The Flayers are level 72, the ravagers are 70. There are little mounds of dirt that are probably the focus of whatever daily quest. The mobs are fairly close, with flayers patrolling. Probably going to be a pain to collect the dirt mounds. It covers 2 large sections though, so well-designed to handle a bit of traffic. It's also covered by a net of brambles, so you just can't swoop down from a flying mount.

Yeah, this isn't a new area at all. I fly over it every time I go from Shatt to Hellfire as it's directly on the way, and has several mining nodes as well.

I've seen the area while mining in Hellfire. Takes a long time to fly over ;)
