Blizzard has previously told us that they plan to renovate as many of the holidays as possible, but from what we've seen so far, the Lunar Festival hasn't really recieved any of that love-- as Lodran says, players who've done the Lunar Festival quests in the pasts aren't finding anything new to do this year. Not that there's anything really wrong with that-- Omen is still out there to be taken down, and for a lot of people, Omen was the first raid boss they'd seen (in fact, he was the Horseman before there was a Horseman-- a seasonal boss, except that Omen didn't drop epic loot). And lots of people are still having fun running the old Lunar Festival quests and turning those in.
But it is too bad there's nothing new yet. Guess we'll have to wait for Love is in the Air and Noblegarden to see if Blizzard's done any more seasonal updating.

Oh, I miss the Headless Horseman - epic raid drops every night, how yummy. It'd be nice if we could see more of with Omen. If Blizz is concerned about giving out too many welfare epics in easily defeatable holiday raid bosses, they could always make the epic loot from the holiday bosses expire after a period of time, say 6 months? Keep doing holiday bosses, and you keep your epic in place. Or make them blues that get better with every holiday raid boss defeated.

I rather like that idea of having a 'progressive' loot. Much like the violet signet from Kara, but every time you kill a holiday epic boss, you get 'the next level' of loot, or something of that likeness.
Maybe we could have 'Lego loot'. You could build your own. For instance, you kill Omen, you get a Loot-sicle. When Hallow's End comes around, you get kill him, and get a choice of upgrading your Loot-sicle with +2 STA, +2 INT, +2 STR, etc. Obviously, newer players would have Loot-sicle of Mediocrity, while older players would have the Slaying Loot-sicle of OMGWTFBBQ!

People keep repeating this idea that you can't redo the coin quests -- but I've been able to redo them, and I first did them two years ago. Please test before you repeat information next time, eh?

In past years, you couldn't repeat them. However, this year they are reset.

Has anyone downed this guy yet?

I tanked him with 10 other people ranging in level from 70 to 43. There was 5 of us left standing after the fight, it was quite a long fight.

Some guildmates and I killed Omen last night with little trouble. We were wearing a mix of T4 to T6 gear.
1 resto druid healing.
1 holy paladin healing.
1 holy paladin in his ret gear tanking
1 mage
1 enhancement shaman
+ 1 horde resto shaman doing a bit of caster dps, and a horde hunter who tried to help but mostly just died repeatedly...

Since I was home yesterday, I decided to take the time and run around Azeroth and collect all 50 coins. That's 4100 rep for me, people. Not a bad haul for a trip through scenery.

I've been able to be part of Omen's demise on all my characters, besides my level 47 rogue, who I lucked out and he had died just as I got into moonglade.... he had also spawned right next to his corpse, so it was a matter of running in the light, completeing the quest, and dying. Normally, I know, you're supposed to go into the light AFTER dying, but Blizzard apparently likes to shake things up.
It took a bit of doing on my first character to convince the alliance raid to actually help the hordies killing Omen. They said "But we don't have him tagged!" and I had to explain that no, we didn't, but the faster he went down, the sooner we ALL got to step into the light and get the quest done. I was very happy to find a group on my horde later that, though ragtag, did not get upset with the fact some people were only there to complete the quest (at 50) and I was actually viable at 64 to help the DPS and my poor little wolf ended up as the sacrificial lamb about ten times because of the AOE, but the healers were lovely and did help me keep him up. I was too young last year to even attempt Omen, but this year, I've found it a blast and help out whenever I'm in moonglade and someone's trying. I LIKE that he doesn't drop anything. Still, I really wish they had added more recipes. Why not add a leatherworking pattern for sandles to make those outfits look good? Or how hard would it have been to have a new cooking recipe put in to exchange coins for? If you're not an engineer, it seems silly to try to track down all the coins.

Collecting all 50 coins should earn 1,000 rep or a 24 hour blessing of Elune, imho. How about it Blizz?

Well, currently each coin nets you 75 rep with your faction. So that would be 3750, or 4100 if you're human. Much better than just a 1000.

Yeah, but that collective reward doesn't (for me at least) give an overall "congratulations you've bothered to collect every single coin in the world" type win-moment =)

how would lowering the reward give you a "win-moment"?

I meant the additional rep/buff as a bonus after getting all 50, not instead of the collective rep.

I really think there's no need to add anything to this holiday yet. The content it delivers is plentiful, and I believe this is only the third time it has happened, so it's still a fairly "fresh" holiday. By comparison, Winter Veil and Hallow's End were on their fourth iterations last year, so far as I know, so naturally they needed a little freshening up. They were also a little lackluster compared to more recently added holidays such as the Lunar Festival(natch), Midsummer Flame and especially Brewfest, none of which are especially high-profile in North America in their real world equivalents. By contrast, Halloween and Christmas are pretty much the two "biggest" holidays in the US, as far as universal anticipation and revelry go.
Before anyone accuses me of American bias, I'm Australian. We don't even have anything like Halloween here, and we make a much bigger deal out of, say, the New Year(both European and Asian versions since, respectively, we need a holiday that's a good excuse for lots of drinking as we lack Thanksgiving and Oktoberfest is marginally practiced, and we have a rather high proportional Asian population). I'm simply noting that the US market is the most important for Blizzard itself, so naturally the holidays the US loves the most should be the most significant in the game.

Oh, I should note that I'm counting the 4th of July fireworks ingame event as separate from though associated with the Midsummer Flame Festival. Obviously, Independence Day is a Very Big Dealâ„¢ in the US.

This lunar festival sucks thus far on Kil'Jaeden, because someone started the AQ opening quest chain and summoned eranikus and all the phantasms. Damn mobs are all over the zone, destroying every body in sight.

It should also be noted, meeting up with the elders grants you 75 alliance rep. That is as much as the repeated runecloth turn ins, and a lot cheaper. Seeing as there are upwards of 30+ (at LEAST) elders, you can scam some huge rep gains on that alt of yours you want riding a kitty, and save yourself some of that dough you would have used to buy the cloth. That there's training money.
