Playing a warrior since WoW was released has gotten me a lot of gear over the years. One of my greatest accomplishments in the game was getting my hands on a Quel'Serrar about two years ago. When I got this beautiful piece of equipment I had been 60 for about three months, and had done nothing but grind for gold. After saving up just over 2,000 gold, I bought the Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying. By todays standard 2,000 gold might not seem like a lot, but back then it was more gold then most people would ever see. Using my Quel I raided happily until Burning Crusade came out. Being such a stickler, I used it for tanking all the way to 70, and only replaced it with Grom'tor's Charge. To this day its still sitting in my bank. I've recently taken it out and gave it some use in the early trash in The Eye. I found that its actually not that bad of a weapon still. Granted it doesn't proc as often as it used to, and its stats are not that great compared to Mallet of the Tides. Happily however, it still kept the threat up against all those over zealous DPS'ers.
Having all that fun with my Quel again got me thinking... is there any chance for an upgrade? There have been rumors that there will be an upgrade quest, but nothing substantive yet from the mouth of Blizzard. Until someone in Blue posts on the official forums and makes all of us warriors happy, for the time being we'll have to just get along with dreaming for an upgrade quest. And maybe, just maybe, someone from Blizzard will see this and decide that Wrath of the Lich King needs another feature.
Do you have other cherished items that you dream about Blizzard updating?

My Sulfuras could use an upgrade. It's next to my Quel and my full T2 set in the bank, taking up space.

Quel'serrar would actually be a good idea to upgrade in WoTLK, just as you had to have onyxia breath fire on it and stab her with it, you could do it with malygos, even makes sense lore-wise, his magic imbibes the blade, making it stronger :D

This is a great idea Patrick! I wasn't aware Malygos was going to become a feature in WoTLK. It would certainly fit into the lore. Here's to hoping...

Be nice if the 'classic' pre-BC stuff could be upgraded in a quest chain. I had to give up the Robe of the Archmage which surprisingly was still viable almost up to 70. I would like to be able to upgrade it. Same with equipment which was hard to obtain in a quest chain. Maybe it could just be gem sockets which would be a simple way out for blizz.

Rhok'Delar. Not just a great weapon, but a sign that you could truly play your class, by yourself, without help from anyone, even your pet. Rhok'Delar was a flag that said "Don't mess with me. I have more skill than you can dream about."
Then people figured out that they could keep the quest and sell the demon kills and it got all screwy, but hey, someone always finds a way to cheat.
Anyway, I got mine fair and square and I really want it to mean something again.

The saddest day of my WoW life was putting my Rhok into the bank. I worked so very hard for it and I'd like to be able to use it again. I felt more e-accomplished finally getting that than killing any raid boss.
And, of course, Lhok - the three sticks duct taped together :D

Benediction (well, now I'd use Anathema). I've kept mine and don't plan on getting rid of it. Still remember it being the "Kill the Healer" bull's eye in AV :)

Agreed, both the eye and the leaf had good quests.

I think most of the class-quest weapons from pre-TBC should get some sort of upgrade. Benediction, the hunter bow, Quel'serrar, these are all weapons that were pretty important to most people pre-TBC. I know I first got Fodors without knowing what it was on a random DM run, and when I finally got in a raiding guild, Quel'Serrar was the first epic I ever got. I still have it, and sometimes wish I could use it (and my Ashkandi) still

Thats actually a really cool idea. I never had a chance to get a Quel'Serrar since I played a Rogue exclusively until the expansion. I was telling someone just the other day though, that given the chance I would totally get one for my Tankadin. Its a horrible tankadin weapon (today, at least) but I've always thought it was a really cool weapon.
Granted, I honestly don't see it ever happening, sadly. If enough people tell blizzard they think its a good idea though, one can never tell what they will do

They really need to have a quest to re-forge legendary items, seriously it seems insane that they get outdated so quickly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a thorium brotherhood-type faction pop up. Grind rep to exalted to gain access to various weapon upgrade quest chains. Socketing, reforging, maybe even a mega upgrade chain for legendary weapons. I'd kill every instance and raid boss mob in the game if I knew it would make a windfury really worth using at level 80.
