This is the best bug I've heard about in the game yet so far-- Drysc has confirmed that there is a known bug in the Blade's Edge plateau area which will cause everyone, when someone starts up the Bombing Run quest, to stop eating and drinking and stand up. It's a respect thing, you know? Stand up for the cause! No, it's just a really, really weird bug, and a fix is on the way in an upcoming patch (I'm a little surprised they don't aim to fix it earlier, but apparently all that will be lost is the food anyone sits down to eat at the wrong time in Blade's Edge). Once again, I am dumbfounded at trying to figure out just how Blizzard's code works-- seems like they have the absolute weirdest bugs happen to them sometimes.

It's pretty obvious that starting the quest involves casting a spell that affects everyone in the entire zone without having any actual noticeable effects. Since spell (and other) hits generically cause players to stand up... Why they failed to fix it when they tried too is another matter entirely.
Game code is complex and generic stuff usually only causes trouble, it's the basic fact of things. Don't think that whatever you learned in your Programming Design 101 classes in (high) school/university is applicable.
Same thing with Ony... someone changed generic code about npc spell cast decisions, inner stuff that wouldn't make it to the patch notes as it shouldn't cause a noticeable change in behaviour... And havoc ensues because Ony's Deep Breath did not have a cooldown or w/e. Testing every NPC encounter after such a change is impractical at best, as is reviewing the logic of every NPC. Sloppy, but hey, we survived.
Note that this is of course all speculation and I might be wrong. At least I'm a bit more respectful towards Blizzard programmers than most of the other commenters who don't know where the bug comes from, and who seem to feel Blizzard programmers are idiots because of it.

I do remember them saying this was fixed a few patches ago and yeah..it's not. And it's really, really, really annoying when you think about how much food/water and gold you waste when you try to do your dailies or farm for motes of fire or anything there.
fix plz, kthxbai

Let's look at the bugs that are known but haven't been touched and ones supposedly fixed.
BE standing up. "Fixed"
People on zeps and boats. "Fixed" They're back, honest.
Mobs in netherwing standing around doing nothing.
Peons in netherwing that will not walk up to the food for the one daily. No indication on which mobs are bugged so you need to get the glands repeatedly.
Race NPCs will target all flying people in the flight route while racing and so you can be floating in the dragonmaw base and get suddenly hit by flack.
Stormstrike bug where if your first attack is dodged, parried, or misses (unlikely) you do not get a second attack, even though the tooltip says 2 attacks.
Windfury bugs all over the place for how that delay affects crap. (also stealth "fixed" with the 3 second delay)
Snake trap will attack unflagged players and flag them if the owner of the trap is flagged. Even if not, it attacks anything nearby and can kill lowbies near the "duel" between 2 hunters who aren't flagged.
Netherwing transporters swimming through the air because they forgot their drakes. It's particularly funny to shoot them, have them swim down to you and summon their drakes.
Shar'tul Transporter event. So bugged it isn't even close to funny. Had the pet bar and my bar never change on one hand off so I had no special abilities. Had a demon fial to be taken over after killing it, sat there as a felguard and was just annoyed until a GM finally reset it and gave me my rune back. He stayed and watched it then bug out on using my dive bomb. He asked me to stop using it for a while because he couldn't fix the thing. It wouldn't be an issue but about the only dependable way to get the Bade of Tenacity is there. My wife wants one bad.

There should be free food and water in that area.
