But now, the other problem arising is actually ninja looters-- people are joining the battlegrounds, grabbing all the food from the table, and then afk-ing out. It seems crazy to me, but it's happening, and Neth says (as per Blizzard's rules) that stealing items from other players in this way isn't actually a violation of game policies. But it is dumb. Never mind why you would need all that food, but it seems like the issue would be easy enough to fix-- either make food conjured in BGs stay in BGs, or just make the food unique to 100 (apparently people are sometimes stealing all 50 stacks right off the table).
Of course, that doesn't fix the other RoR problems-- a few mages are also wondering why they get to lay a great spread, while only getting crumbs and water themselves, but that's a problem for another day. Have you had your Manna biscuits ganked in the BGs?

Every now and again you'll see in trade:
"WTS: [Manna Biscuits], 1g per stack. Have lots!!"
You check to see who's selling and it's not a mage. Those munchies came from somewhere ...

There are guilds doing this before big raid runs if a mage isn't going with them. Generally though, they ask or offer to pay a mage to do it for them first.

QQ moar mages
Priest buffs cost reagents yet we still hand them out for free in AV.
Notice whenever you're waiting for the BG to start, pallys/priests/druids/locks etc.etc. always pass out their buffs/stones... yet you hardly ever see a mage table

So? Ask and maybe the mage will conjure some food/water for you instead. I think you're complaining for the sake of complaining.

I stopped reading at "QQ."
I came back but again stopped reading at "moar."
Finally, I returned and quickly read the rest of your whine and saw that you missed the main point of the article.
Awesome.

Yeah, priests and druids etc, do spend their reagents giving buffs... but everyone in the group benifits from it. I.e. They all get the buff, when I make a table in a BG, and it disappears in 2 seconds, I know maybe 2 people got food from it.. which is ridiculous, then i get asked.. MAKE ANOTHER TABLE... it gets very very annoying.. I like the (Unique) Idea.. or maybe even add a 2 sec cast time to get the food. that way someone cant just go a.d.d. clicking and get em all in such short a time.

2 easy fixes to these problems:
1. At the beginning of a BG (when you have the zero-cost buff) remove the reagent cost too.
2. Make Manna Biscuits unique to 40. That should be more than enough to finish any BG or normal dungeon. If you need more, you can always ask a mage for more.
Personally, I always grab 2 stacks, and they last me the rest of the day.

I repeat your second suggestion so often I even went ahead and made it part of my sig in the WoW forums...

I agree, removing the reagent costs would be nice, but seriously, is it really that much of an issue? I just don't get where the complaint is.
I'd also agree, to a point, to a limit. I'd say 100 instead of 40. It's quite common for people in our guild to log in their mage alt to summon a table and have somebody else grab a bunch for them while they log back into their main. While I agree, on a full run, most classes shouldn't be using anymore than 2 stacks, having a little buffer room is good to "hold" food for friends.

Yeah, I mean it works both ways, I suppose. Mages are just as greedy.
Although, why screw over a battleground? Make some friends on your server and invite a couple people to your group and ask them to help you summon it? That's what I do. 99% of people help and grab some for themselves. I also have friends in game. Also, you could just summon normal food and water, and save yourself $.
In fact, I think it is pretty uncommon for a mage to not get any him/herself, because they are right in front of it, and see the casting bar.

I play a lock mainly in PVP and I ALWAYS drop a soul well for my fellow players as well as myself before bgs. Yes it cost a reagent that I can get FROM the battle ground, but I consider it common courtisy. I wish more people saw it this way.
I usually tip a mage when they drop a table as well if I can figure out who dropped it.

I like to go to AV, grab my mana Biscuits, get all my buffs /afk out and go farm until all my buffs wear out. Stone back to IF, repair/sell/AH/clear my bags, rise and repeat.

I play a mage, and honestly even though i dont often put a table down in a BG, it doesnt bug me if someone else grabs all the food and runs. First off I never take the food anyway, seeing as how i can conjure more later, it seems pointless to me. And if the others luck out because someone jumped in and stole it, well then im sorry for them, though honestly, its a 20 minute (normally) BG, and when you die you respawn with full health and mana, so getting food isnt a necessity. And in the article when you said you couldnt figure out why they would do that, in my guild one night the kara group i wasnt in needed food, and the mage in that group was not there for other reasons, so the raid leader got the food by BG stealing it. Is it the nicest thing? No, of course not, but when it comes to a 20 minute BG where you kinda WANT food and water, as opposed to a raid stretching on for multiple hours depending on your guild, you NEED food and water for the raid, but in the BG its just nice. While it does annoy me sometimes in a BG when that happens, it doesnt seem that big of a deal. The price of the reagent isnt big enough to make a big deal out of this.

I can't believe mages are crying about reagent cost. Do you know how many reagents I blow through with greater blessings during an average battleground run?

Uh, simple fix then... don't use Greater Blessings.

I agree. Can they QQ any more? Geez. As a druid, reagents is just part of the game. I'm use to it as I'm sure other classes are. I join an AV and have no problems group buffing the entire raid. It's part of the bloody game.
Mages are just complaining about reagent costs because they aren't use to having to use reagents for such a useful spell. Ports? eh, they are situational, but there are still people that complain about the 2s it costs for it.

Oh yeah, forgot about group AI on mages...why are they still complaining about reagents? Just do ONE daily quest and you're covered for about ... I don't know, 100+ tables?

Well, another simple fix is... if a mage is complaining that they're creating Ritual, which is then subsequently being robbed, then just conjure food/water the old fashioned way. Easy solution.
