I’m sure he’ll still feel that way after he’s moved out of his mom’s house and gotten a 9 to 5. Apparently he doesn’t *have* a job currently, so it’s pretty easy to say that a system which makes him “special” is favorable.

I greatly prefer the current system. I can get arena gear for my main, and BG gear for my army of alts without killing myself in the process. It’s fun, and I can do it when real life lets me. I’m sure most people with lives feel the same.

Well i didn't pvp hardly any at all when i was leving pre bc and now i am stuck with this grunt title. I wouldn't mind bring the old titles back with honorable kills setting what rank you have.

i don't care what they do to the system as long as i don't have to wait 2h 7min for an AV queue to pop! I rarely run BGs anymore unless I can get a premade together.

Time is not equal to skill and therefore....loot should NOT reward time invested. It just that simple. There has to be an element of both time and skill involved to get rewarded, just like real life experience...but i wouldn't expect these kids to be able to relate to that. They think that since they put in hours upon hours they should get something...even if they suck. I find this odd as not many real life scenarios work out that way.

IMO, it should have never left the game. It just should have been an option added to the mix in some fashion as a mechanism for obtaining specific high end items.

Hey... I have no problem with them bringing back the honor grind. As long as there are no gear rewards and you just get your little title that's fine with me.

So here's how I see it working - you buy rank tokens for 25,000 honor. They have a 30 day duration and you turn them in stacks according to the rank you want (but you have to rank up one at a time). This could be easily tuned so that you have to PvP 24/7 in a semi-organized grind group to achieve one of the top 2-3 ranks. If you really want HWL/GM title or just want to feel the nostalgia of poopsocking you can do it!

One of my biggest surprises when I rejoined WoW was the loss of the old PVP system. Still I am glad things have changed, I got myself up to rank 10 (Lt. Commander) and I was really burnt out from PVP after that. I always think its good when this game can allow you to have a life and still do well and have fun

Just because there is a problem with people going AFK during BG's is no reason to change the whole system back to the boring grind.

I personally work a 9-5 and a have a family to care for so I appreciate the fact that blizzard has made it possible for the casual gamer to gain enough honor to be able to get some decent gear so that we have an honest chance to compete in PVP.

It sounds like he is just upset that he has lost his gear superiority in the BG's and now has to compete on a more even playing ground.

One thing they can do to fix the afker problem that kind of resembles the old system is to re-institute a mark of honor turn in quest. If players get 100 honor or so per mark, winning will suddenly be worthwhile, instead of losing and still getting 90% of the honor. People will tend to have extra marks to turn in above and beyond the prices of pvp items if they win more than they lose anyway.

Buuty... obviously you have never worked a union job. Time (seniority) is the *only* factor in a union environment and skill/merit has nothing to do with it... which is a big downside of unions.

Anyhoo, as for the BGs, yes... I am permanently stuck with the Knight title on my main, and Knight-Lieutenant on one of my alts. That doesn't really bother me, but what does is the fact that AV has become so meaningless and trivial.

When was the last time anyone has summoned Ivus, or the Ram Riders, or an airstrike for example? I can't even recall the last time guards were upgraded from armor scrap turn ins.

I miss the old epic AV, with all the associated quests, the troll and his minions (on Field of Strife... not at SF gy), and all the NPC guards. It was next to impossible to simply rush to Drek in those days.

AV now is a pale shadow of what it once was... HOWEVER, I do like my new shiny Arena 1 loot. My main was basically in the best gear he could aquire without either raiding or doing heroic instances. I did not have the gear needed to be viable in heroics, and do not have time to raid regularly... so the Gladiator gear represents a huge upgrade for me, and has made it possible for me to do some of the heroic instances.

It absolutely infuriates me that this little snot thinks having responsibilities is a bad thing. I have a 9-5; personally, one of the things bringing me back to WoW is that it -can- be rewarding for someone who can't stay up till 6am every night and grind honor for hours upon hours, days upon days, weeks upon weeks.

Grinding=boredom. No thanks there is enough grinding to do in the game. The titles are cool and I wish they would come back but the honor system is much better now.

The afkers do suck but this is not the fix.

While I played under the old system, I was frequently frustrated that my real life and all it's obligations (wife, job, children, food, sleep, etc...) got in the way of getting the rank and gear I wanted.

Now I have an alternative. I raid with two of my toons and gear them for those raids and I hit the Arena and BG's with my others. Honestly I don't care what gear you buy from AFKing in the Cave of Love, just don't expect to raid SSC with it.

The old honor grind system was a disaster. I know more then one person who got GM, and by the end of it was so burned out that as soon as they got it, they either quit PvPing or quit WoW entirely.

The focus of it was simply playing constantly, not on having fun while you were doing it. This is a game, and games are supposed to be fun. The new system lets people go at whatever pace they want, so there is a lot more chance to say "you know I don't feel like doing AV tonight."

Do people really want to give that up in exchange for "if I don't do AV tonight I might not rank up in 3 weeks!!"

Actually the old honor grind caused more AFK'ers than the current system. In order to grind rank people would AFK every moment they couldn't actively play, so that they were constantly moving up the ladder.

@ Thead, yes I actually work in a union shop (Fed Gov't)job although I am not a part. You statement is partially true, because I have been promoted over "old schoolers" because of my education and dedication. YOu are right that many times, rewards are given for time invested, but not the best rewards....and skill bringsd those rewards a lot sooner..just like in WoW.
