The winner? The skeletal horse comes out on top, with a grade of A-, while at dead last is actually my personal favorite, the hawkstrider (although I like the horse, too). He says the Chocobo is "only cool to 4-year-old girls and seriously deluded 17-year-old anime fans," but hey, I'm neither, and I rolled not one but two Blood Elves just to ride one.
What do you all think? I know from experience that most of you don't like the hawkstrider (that just means my tastes are exclusive),
Update: I made a mistake-- I thought these were listed in order of rating. As our wonderful commenters point out (thanks for catching this, guys, you're the best), the ratings are as follows:
Undead Horse: A-
Troll Raptor: B+
Orc Wolf: B
Tauren Kodo: C-
Blood Elf Hawkstrider: F
So the raptor does beat the wolf and the kodo on this list. My fault completely.

Man, the skeletal horses are definitely my LEAST favorite. I mean, they look fine and all, but I just don't like them. Don't like the Undead much at all, actually.
By far, the coolest one is the Raptor. You get to be a Troll AND ride a frickin' dinosaur around. Doesn't get any better than that.
I think the Hawkstrider is also very cool-looking. I love the different colors they have.
What happened to having racial FLYING mounts? Yes, Orcs should have wyverns, but trolls should have bats, and blood elves should have dragonhawks, night elves should have hippogryphs, dwarves gryphons, etc.

Don't forget the Bear mount. I think that definitely deserves mention.

i'd rate the raptor tops myself.
of all the alliance mounts, i still think the original (unarmored) human horses look the best. mechanostriders and cats would be my pickings of the current crop.

I have rolled 2 nightelves and i made sure that i got a ram for one (exalted with IF) and a Horse for the other (exalted SW) i like the race but by them time you hit 60 i like to ditch the crappy cat mounts. IMHO alliance mounts are
Ram
Mechanostrider
Elekk
Horse
Cat
My Nelf hunter is almost exalted with Gnomer too but they won't let her ride the strider :(
Don't forget the spectral cat from TCG

I think it has a lot to do what your toons are. For example, my gnome looks extremely cute on an elephant while riding elepant makes every other race look stupid. My dwarf looks just fine on his ram, but a night elf on a goat? Not so much.
Here is my general order for alliance mounts
1. Cat - night elf
2. Elephant - draenei
3. ram - dwarf
4. horse - human
5. mechanical chicken - gnome

My favorite is Attumen's Fiery Warhorse (which I was lucky enough to obtain) but my human warlock just looks so weird on my Stormpike Battlecharger that I enjoy it almost as much!

Oh, and also....all those lists are wrong. The Warlock Dreadsteed is by *far* the coolest mount in the game. Nothing else even begins to come close. Everyone knows that.

My favorite mount is the skeletal steed, because it looked like a stuff of nightmare. The epic version leaves behind trails of unholy fire wherever it runs!
Second favorite would be the wolves, especially the black ones. The size of the thing, the way it bounds on the ground, it feels like one is riding roughly on this thing.
Third in the list are raptors, because raptors are cool. Vicious hunters that hunt in packs? Scythe claws on legs? Sign me up!
Fourth are the kodos, because something that big running fast is just ridiculous. And having that kind of weight, how can it possibly jump? It is logic defying!
My most hated mount are hawkstriders. I mean, rainbow turkeys? It looks more ridiculous than kodos!

I like how your favorite mount is the skeletal horse, which defies all known laws of physics and biology - and then argue against the kodo based on the laws of physics and biology. :)

Coolest Horde mount for me has got to be the raptor, as a mainly Alliance person I've been jealous of trolls for as long as I've been playing; I even levelled my undead priest in the troll zones to try and get enough rep for one, but with no luck (this was pre-TBC and rep buffs so I only reached revered a couple of weeks ago...) However my new blood elf PVPs a bit, and dinged 60 today, so at last I have a gorgeous black raptor :-D
Overall I'd rate them:
Horde:
Raptor (immensely cool, love them)
Skeletal horse (epic version runs raptors pretty close)
Kodo (have to be a tauren, other races just look weird)
Wolf (never appealed to me really)
Chicken (argh... just awful, not a lot that can be said about how camp they look!)
Alliance:
Ram (non-epic ones are cute, epic isn't bad either)
Elekk (very dependent on the race riding it though)
Horse (love the normals, epic looks rubbish though)
Mecha-chicken (cool but sizist so my humans/draenei can't ride them)
Tiger (everyone has them, yawn. Although I like the ZG one)

I hate seeing a belf coming at me on a chicken...I also hate the way Taurens look on Kodos..or off them for that matter.

Agreed on Raptor. At 40 my BElf Hunter got a purple chicken... but I decided that if I was going to drop nearly 600g on an epic mount, it would be the raptor. It is not so easy to get to exalted with Darkspear. It took me till 63 or 64 running down every last troll rep quest I could, not to mention more runecloth than I can count.
I still keep my chicken in the bank though, in case I help a lower level guildie, so that we are near the same speed.

Raptors are nice while stationary but they bounce too much while running. Ugh motion sickness.

I have 3 level 70 Horde characters have have tried all Horde moutns for huge amounts of time.
Horde~
1. Chocobo: It's smooth, it feels fast, and it has the best graphics.
2. Kodo: Like driving a tank.
3. Dead Horse: Looks cool, has nice glowing effects.
4. Wolf: Has a nice flow to it, graphics need updating.
5. Raptor: Too large for it's own good.
Allience (have much less experience, a part from Ram and cat)~
1. Robo-chicken: Smooth, robot = cool.
2. Cat: Smooth, looks cool.
3. Ram: Addictive animations, looks cool with certain classes/gear.
4. Elekk: Pretty disappoint from what I've seen of these.
5. Horse: Remove the coolness and glow effect from dead horse and this is what you get /yawn.
Flying:
1. Phoenix, 310% speed, looks cool, glows, better on smaller races though, since the Phoenix itself is small.
2. Arena Drake: Dragon + extra armor = better dragon... And of course 310% speed.
3. Engineering mount, havent personally tried one, but looks cool and does cool things what what I've seen.
4. Alliance mount, cute, nice animations.
5. Drake: Looks cool.
Overall: Phoenix mount, Silithid, Bear mount, Chocobo, Kodo.

The raptors gets on your nerves after 30 levels, especially with the whole bouncing animation when riding them

They look great when standing still, especially the pvp version, but yeah the animation could use some help.
