Around Azeroth: Meet Malchezaar
This shot of Karazhan's Prince Malchezaar, sent in by reader Gabe, strikes a little close to home for me, personally. If you've never visited Karazhan and encountered the Prince, let me explain: throughout the fight infernals fall from the sky. When they land, they stand in one place send out damaging pulses of hellfire in a circle around them. As the fight progresses, your raid will find positioning more and more difficult until you reach the point this image shows us: infernals are everywhere and, without a safe place to stand, your raid has perished. Prince Malchezaar, having eliminated everyone else in your group, is now coming after you. Gabe explains the moment for us, "I've run to the door screaming for someone to let me out, (he's too tall to fit) but no one answers."

If your guild is still trying to dodge infernals check out this image...http://flavaguild.com/images/karasafe.jpg. We've done prince with as few as 5 people standing this way. It took us 14 min to kill him, but standing in those 2 spots turn it really just into a tank and spank.

That's a fantastic action shot. Probably the best I have seen.
Just a side note. In our guild we refer to Prince as The Techno Viking. To find out more of what I'm talking about just do a youtube.com search.

The thing that sucks more than anything else is that the Prince fight is the single most luck based fight in all of WoW. no matter how good and on the ball your raid may be, those infernals can repeatedly land in just the wrong spot, even if you can reposition him, it's too late by then.

I hate prince. We spent 3 hours on him last night because the infernals kept dropping in really bad places.

#4 and #5 use what Kortil said. The spots highlighted in that pricture are "safe zones" where infernals will not drop. It takes an attempt or two for the tank/healers to figure out where to stand but once they got that down, the fight becomes a joke really. It is very unusual for us not to one shot him now.

The thing is that you don't fight Malchazaar alone, but the legion that he commands.

Also, I think a few dimensions and a smattering of realities are open to him.

The important thing to remember about Prince Malchezaar is that he doesn't know how to spell his own name.

I shot that on a second wipe courtesy of awful infernal drops. One of the luxuries of being the paladin is that you generally survive longer than your group members. Not that it really helps with the door being closed and all.
