Hunters received a lot of changes in patch 2.3 and now Salthem on the european WoW forums has announced even more. Patch 2.3.2 will bring three buffs to the class, or two buffs and one un-nerf, depending on how you look at it. Check out the list of changes below.Salthem on Wow-europe.com:
The following changes are planned for Hunters in the next patch, 2.3.2, which we hope will go up on the PTR quite soon:
- Aspect of the Viper effect increased.
- It will once again be possible for two freezing traps to be in place at the same time.
- Pet levelling speed has been substantially increased.

I think Blizzz gives in to the Hunter QQ about not being able to have two traps up. Pathetic

"Pet levelling speed has been substantially increased."
I wouldn't call that a buff, it's more like a bug fix. When the character leveling has been increased, the pet leveling stayed the same, which means that pets can be many levels below the character (if you're lucky with quest item drop rates and you don't grind a lot, your pet can be 3-8 levels lower when you hit 60). There is no real advantage for the hunters if the pet leveling is adjusted to the same degree it was before the patch - and that means letting pets level up faster - so I wouldn't call it a buff.

If Blizz really wants to give hunters some love (without giving them powers that will raise an uproar among other classes) they could do either/both of the following:
1. Allow extra stable slots to be purchased.
2. Allow some way for hunters to switch out pets in instances. Like a warlock, my pet is my weapon: I can switch out my weapons & armor before each particular fight (heck even in combat), but to change my pet I have to leave the instance and fly to a stable master ...

The Aspect of the Viper re-buff is very, very welcome. The recent nerf (when was it, 2.2?) was annoying as heck.

What class do you play? Because I'm SURE that there is something they've cried about, and gotten changed.
Also, it's not even as if ice trapping two targets was that overpowered...

@7: I don't think they nerfed Viper recently (They buffed it big time in 2.1).
I have noticed however that my mana efficiency seems to have gone way down since 2.2 came out.

Double Ice Traps wasnt OP, it took skill to do, and when the ice traps ran out, pretty much all hell broke loose if the party wasnt ready for them.

@2: Since they're reverting it so quickly, and since it wasn't in the official 2.3 patch notes, my guess is that it's actually a bug that's being fixed.

You have bugs due to programming error.
You have bugs due to shortsightedness.
You have bugs due to plain stupidity.
Some bugs have been a part of a hunter's gameplay they've become standard to the game. Fortunately, Blizz is fixing something they shouldn't have touched (double trapping). Taking this ability away was a plain stupidity bug.
@2: What is your hatred towards hunters? Its an insanely complex class to manage (and I've played them all). While some are up to the challenge, many are not. Perhaps you have played with the many who aren't adept enough to handle being a hunter.

It's easy to level a pet when you're level 70 and have decent gear. Just do an instance, take your low level pet along, and leave it on passive.
If you're bothered about complaints, run a damage meter to show you're still doing decent dps, and point out that a low level pet doesn't draw any more aggro than a high level one does.

I think that the reason for allowing multiple frozen mobs again is purely because of the mechanics of bread and butter chain trapping.
It is not specifically to allow "double trapping", which is just a bonus.
Only allowing 1 mob to be frozen is a problem in group play. Consider the standard chain trapping process:
> Pull
> Hunter freezes mob 1
> Hunter drops another freeze trap and starts nuking
...and now another mob unexpectedly triggers the second trap. For example, the tank accidentally walks the mob over the trap, or a mob fears the tank and charges the hunter.
The first trap breaks because the second trap was triggered (under the "only one frozen" rule).
The second mob probably has a DoT, so the second trap breaks almost immediately.
...and now there are 2 mobs running around.
This is the problem that is fixed by removing the "only one frozen" rule. The alternative is increased party wipes for frustrating reasons.

@15: I wasn't aware they removed all pre-70 instances.
And while #13 is correct, bringing a lowbie pet to an instance is going to require you to A) explain five times how pet aggro works and that your level 10 pet won't aggro anything and B) apologize for not being able to off-tank CC anything with your pet, although I guess we can just doubletrap it instead.
And then you WILL get blamed for any wipes, even if you saw the rogue backing into that group.

I think that Hunters are either a hard unmanagable class. or a super class among classes, if played well... whatever your spec is. My sugjestion for the upcomming lvl 80 increase, with obviously a higher skill on the tallent would be a talent for high skilled bm, to tame beasts otherwise normaly not tameable. ie. who wouldnt want a big giant zeebra or courser for a pet lol.

What is with the hunter hate? I've never understood it. I mean, look at what your hunters are doing; very high damage, crowd control, pet management, offtanking, spoonfeeding tanks, healing our own pets, draining mana, decreasing healing ability, purging, kiting, silencing, stunning, reducing armor, buffing parties, the ultimate threat management....the list is endless. It is an ultimate utility class and yet all you hear is this blah blah Hunters QQ crap. You want to talk QQ? Go out and read about mages and locks, seriously, get a bib and a sippy cup already.
The FD/drink needs to come back in the worst way and the Viper buff will be very nice. Both very welcome changes.
