I love my shaman. She is not my main character, but I have a blast playing her. She is unashamedly almost full restoration spec. I love the flexibility of the class, and I love the fact that even though I'm most commonly an instance healer, I can take a (little bit of a) beating when I have to.The other great thing about being a shaman are all the cool abilities that are unique to the shaman class. Or are they?
Baluki has written an excellent post on his blog outlining some of the ways that you can duplicate some of the more unique shaman skills using potions, trinkets, and various other forms of voodoo. Some of them are obvious, like using Goblin Jumper Cables to resurrect another player, which mimics Ancestral Spirit. I didn't know though, that there is a Darkmoon Faire card you can use to give yourself a 10% opportunity to reincarnate when you die, which mimics the shaman Reincarnation ability.
You're going to have to read the rest of the article to find the rest of the good stuff, but it's definitely worth a read. Baluki has obviously done a lot of research and presented a very nice resource to us! Thank you, Baluki!

I love the twisting nether card its amazing for PvP. I never thought of it being shaman like though since in such situations you can back to back self-rez more than a few times.

There was an article about the similaities of a moonkin druid and an elemental shaman, which I find to be quite true... hence why I can't bring myself to leveling a shaman since I have a 70 moonkin.

I always thought it was the Shaman who was stealing ideas from the other classes. They got Water Breathing from Warlocks, Ghost Wolf from Druids, Far Sight from Hunters, Water Walking from Priests, Reincarnation from Warlocks...
The reason the Shaman stole it is because they have lesser versions of all of them (Warlocks have a longer Water Breathing with no reagent, Druids Travel Form is instant, Priest's Levitate also gives them slow fall, soulstones have a shorter cooldown). Blizzard must have figured "Hmmm, now what gimmicks should we give shaman... I can't be bothered thinking up new ones, lets just give them everything, but less powerful". Remember, Shaman are the 'Jack of all trades, Master of none' class.

I was kinda thinking that Ancestral Spirit kinda mimics priest Resurrection. Goblin Jumper Cables are more like Rebirth. I think they CAN actually be used in combat too, except that you have to happen to have them equipped.

This post was basically my first attempt at a "feature" article, rather than the screenshot-with-amusing-caption-or-story nonsense I normally do. Maybe I'll do more of these in the future.
I was actually going to do one with duplicating the abilities of every class, but I quickly lost interest in that. :)

It has a low droprate from Mekgineer Thermaplugg in Gnomeregan, and once you use the item (30 minute cooldown), you are surrounded by a Lightning Shield-like buff for ten minutes (unlimited charges I think). The animation looks remarkably similar :)

Seriously, this site has some great posts at times but shit like this makes me wonder why i read it sometimes. Then again, at least nowhere on your site do you claim to be experts. Did you know Paladins can res people too? True story.
