Although patch 2.3 has not even been live for 24 hours yet, information about many of the new profession recipes is already leaking. Through independent investigation, Kaliope has already dug up the dirt on several of the most anticipated new goodies. For all of you fishermen out there who have been dying to get the brand new fishing book, you'll be pleased to note that it only took Kaliope two pools of wreckage in Zangarmarsh, which gave her four curious crates, before she nabbed it. Unfortunately, due to competition, pool spawns were proving somewhat scarce. If you can't wait a few days for the shores to clear, you can try pool spawns in Azeroth. While they may be less of a commodity, it will also take you longer to fish up your book.
If you tried out the new daily cooking quest, then it is possible you found a new recipe in your fishy (or meaty) loot box. While Kaliope had no such luck, I managed to get myself a disappointing Broiled Bloodfin. My guildmate had slightly better luck, and came away with Spicy Hot Talbuk. Being a hunter, I was hoping for Kibler's Bits, but I would have settled for something with a buff other than the standard 20 stamina and spirit.
If you're a leatherworker, and have had your eye set on the new 24 slot leatherworking bag, then head up to the Barrier Hills above Shattrath and start killing some ogres. I was expecting an intense farming experience, but Kaliope notes she received it in two kills, her guildmate in eight, and a friend within ten minutes.
Unfortunately, not every recipe hunt I went on myself was as charmed as Kaliope's. While attempting to hunt Gan'arg Analyzers for the schematic for the new Field Repair Bot 110G, I noticed a severe lack of such mobs. Also, I ran into an abundance of what appeared to me to be kill-crazy gnomes swooping around in their flying machines. I gave up after about ten kills, because achieving even this took me easily ten minutes. Attempts to acquire the new meta-gem recipe for jewelcrafting reportedly were also met with hefty competition.
What have your experiences been so far with the new crafting recipes?

The repair bot 110G took me about an hour of farming.

I'd stick with Sporeling Snacks over Kibler's bits. I'd rather have my pet live longer thanks to the 20 STAM then have him inflict more DPS.
Still, new cooking recipes are good :D

I got the repair bot schematic in an hour's worth of farming. I basically just flew from spawn point to spawn point (spawn points for these mobs are where you play the "Simon" game for the Orgilia daily quest) killing whatever was there. There was a fair amount of competition for the kills. I guess in hind's sight it was only an hour (or less) of farming so it wasn't that bad. But, it felt extermely frustrating at the time while farming for it.

@2 If you raid (or even just do 5mans) you'll want the increased DPS. That new pet food is awesome.

I actually got the repair bot schematic in about 20 minutes. It only took four kills, but there was a lot of competition for the mobs seeing as how there are only about 20 of them in BEM. I didn't have as much luck with the bowmen in Netherstorm. I farmed for about an hour and saw no schematics.

I've gotten the Kibler recipe as well as Chocolate cake recipe that "makes you extremely happy" for one hour. Sounds cool, but it appears that all that happens is fireworks explode out of you during the brief amount of time you are eating it. After that nothing exciting happens. Maybe Blizz will spoof it up a little and let it do more during the hour you have the buff.
A guildie of mine got a recipe made out of eels that does a lightening bolt type damage attack when eaten. I'd like to eat some and see what it's like.

24 Slot leatherworking bag pattern dropped for me after killing maybe 10-12 of the ogres behind Shattrath. Pretty easy grind, or maybe I was just lucky. See people selling the bags on AH for 200G. Little much for a no value item. About the only time this bag would have come in handy is when I was grinding netherwing faction rep for the Drake. Other than that, who carries that much leather around. Being a LW for life in this game, I dont see the need.

@4 Yes, but in a high level instance, you have to deal with tons of AoE, which to me at least, would suggest that need for more Health.
Kibler's seems more suited to PvP: BG's, Arena, etc..

Sunfury Archers were farmed the hell out, but I stood my ground and ignored everybody else there, I tried to respect other Hunters' targets, but I gave no ground to any hordies or non-hunter alliance. Within about 10 to 15 kills I got my arrow maker schematic. I was there for maybe 25 minutes and within that time two other engineers cheered out in /yell linking it, so it's not a rare drop.
I hopped on my osprey and flew over to Ogri'la. The Gan'arg were rare due to high farmage and they don't respawn very quickly because of their proximity to the daily quest pylons, but it didn't take me more than 5 kills to get the recipe - it's just waiting for them to respawn and squaring off in a quick-draw showdown with whomever else is at your spot. All accomplished within an hour.

I think it took me 5 kills of the archers for the arrow machine, and I cleared out 3 camps of Gan'arg for the Repair Bot. Schematic farming done right!

@8 Avoidance Rank 2 + Mend pet. AoE is only going to kill your pet if you don't have avoidance rank 2 and you do a poor job managing him (pull him out of danager and throwing in mend pets). 20 sta isn't going to make a heck of a lot of difference in AoE situations.

The first thing I did after logging in yesterday was to hit up Zangar to acquire one of the journals...it took me 14 Steampump debris spawns to get a curious crate with the journal in it...it was crazy I got 1 crate for every 10-12 casts, much worse that normal.

Fishing pool tracking book took me about 15 minutes. The Chaotic Skyfire Diamond took 10 minutes. I think Blizzard adjusted the spawn rate on the sirens as they're literally respawning every minute.

I got the fishing journal in the fourth wreckage pool I tried in STV last night. Took about 20 minutes. It counts as your one tracking items though, so you can't look for herbs while it is up. Just equip both on a Bongos2 bar and switch as needed.

Was really lucky for once, repair bot plans dropped on the first Gan'arg Analyser kill. The arrow maker dropped off of my third archer :)

Damn, I killed every non-elite ogre in Barrier Hills 4x or more and got zip on my leatherworking druid. At least I was having tons of fun shifting directly from epic flight to cat and back (RAWRbomb!).
I did get the Skullfish Soup recipe from the cooking quest. I got the Kibler's Bits recipe on my first try on the PTR, so hopefully the drop rate will remain good.
Now to take my engineer up to Ogri'la in her new flying machine (love that thing)...

Yesterday's cooking quest was for Kaliri Stew, and I gotta tell ya, it was bizarre flying around Skettis *looking for a Kaliri to kill*, and not being able to find any. Finally I did, and when I completed the quest I got the Stormchops recipe. Yay me!
