Drysc has just announced that Season 3 has been delayed until November 27th. Originally set for the 20th, Blizzard feels that the proximity to the US holiday of Thanksgiving would have been a problem for supporting the event. Therefore, they have delayed the start of the season until they will have more resources available.
Salthem also announced that the European launch of Arena Season 3 is delayed until November 28th for the same reasons.
It's unfortunate that Blizzard didn't think of the holiday ahead of time, but I think that this is the right decision.
What do you think? Did they do the right thing by delaying Season 3?

If this were a major content release I think this would be a great idea... But it is just a new arena season and new honor gear... I'm not sure how it can be that buggy/problimatic
Truthfully I'm annoyed, because as a new player to arena's it means I'm going to have to wait another week to be able to get gear that will allow me to be competitive with all the other S1/S2(and soon to be S3) decked out characters.

I guess its understandable since they said S3 would come within 2 weeks of 2.3, but I'm still pretty dissapointed

s3 was to debut one week after 2.3
Blizz releases 2.3 on the 13th.
Realizes the next week is thanksgiving.
Delays s3 a week so they can eat turkey.
Did it really take all this time for blizzard to actually look at a calendar and realize the week of the 20th was thanksgiving?

I think blizz needs to get their ish together and stop coming with this late stuff. Tell us a later date and then make us happy by bringing developements early or at least on time. Oh well though I guess I will have a little more time to get honor/arena points.

Yeah, this is a bit of a let down. Oh well. Can someone confirm that this will also delay the S1 gear purchasable with honor? The previous post "undocumented 2.3 changes" had S1 gear listed as a 2.3 change.

I don't mind the change. I needed a little more time to accumulate the honor for my S1 set.

Eh, I don't see why it would make anyone upset. If they don't have enough people to do the launch. Everyone has families on thanksgiving just like WoW players half of us will probably do something with our families. RL First. Thats how I see it and if you think that it should come out, maybe if you have a job.. Maybe you should work on Thanksgiving day and I'de like to see how much you complain if your wanting to see your family on Thanksgiving and maybe go out of town for a couple of days. So i say hooah, on the delay.

What exactly do they need to support? What "event"?
Are they worried there will be so many people at the new vendors that the servers will crash? Most of the same people that have already wbeen doing arena will continue as usual, just in new gear.
Is there going to be some kind of party for a week celebrating a new arena season or what?

Don't know why S3 is delayed in Europe for an American holiday. Consistency, I guess. I'm disappointed though.

@8 - not everyone has families on Thanksgiving. Some people don't even have families. I'm not trying to be funny, it's true.

If you guys had been watching the PTRs, you would have noticed that some issues arose with s3.
S3 introduces personal ratings and a couple of new things in the management of the ratings...
And its only a week, where you can stack some more honor points that you'll be able to use for next season.
There is nothing to complain about.
My guess is they didnt anticipate the problems that arose on the PTRs. Problems on the PTRs often translate into problems in the game, sadly. So they are not taking the risk of releasing on low staff. Nothing wrong in that approach. Quit QQ'ing.

Well, since Blizzard is an American company, I'm assuming that they are delaying the release of season 3 worldwide because most of Blizzards employees will have Thanksgiving (the 22nd)off. I'm not sure if Blizzard has a European office or not, so I'm just guessing here.
Man, there were a TON of angry people in that thread. I wonder how they decided who was going to be the lucky guy to deliver that news? "Alright Dave, you were late last week so you get to be the lucky news bearer. I hope this teaches you a lesson"

@7 - I feel almost exactly the same way, but with me, it's more a case of accumulating more arena points so that I can actually afford 2 S3 pieces in the first week instead of 'almost two', and so that I should be able to get all 3 non-set epic pieces in the first week.
Also gives me an extra week to find that special 2v2 partner that will allow me to get the S3 shoulders and healing mace/shield (paladin).
I'm happy with this notice, but I could understand some people being disgruntled.

Agreed, why this isn't happening like the faire coming and going or the various av weekends I have no idea.
Unless there is some need to tabulate the 'required honor ranking' change.

Well, I needed some extra honor and arena points anyway. Its a good idea I guess, and its only a week, no need to complain even if you are a hardcore pvper.

Anyone in a Tech field understands. With any new patch or upgrade you have the potentail for issues and bugs. Blizzard staff wants Thanksgiving off, and if they do an update, they will potentially have to work through the Holiday to fix it.
So better to delay the patch.

This delay may be more to do with giving everyone an equal opportunity to gain rating than anything else.
Think about how easy it would be to gain that 1850 rating on Thanksgiving Day if most of the geared and skilled teams were not playing. The rating/reward system is supposed to reward skill and dedication to pvp and arenas. Exploiting the holiday for ratings wouldn't exactly be fair to everyone else.
... just a thought.
