Wintersaber rep guide
The folks over at Ten Ton Hammer have released a reputation guide focusing on getting yourself a Wintersaber. While this is nothing new to the game, I was thinking about all those new players that have joined the fold in recent years. Perhaps you haven't gotten a chance to experience some of the older rep grinds. For those of us who have been playing for a while and are fond of prestige mounts, you might remember the Wintersaber fondly. Good news is that the reputation with Wintersaber Riders is being revamped on Tuesday, so it will be easier to try your hand at getting yourself a big white (or are they purple?) kitty.
At its essence the Wintersaber is another Alliance epic mount, attainable as a faction reward from doing quests for the Wintersaber Riders in Winterspring. Yes, people actually used to go to Winterspring for something other than Mountain Silversage and the Midsummer Fire Festival. The Ten Ton guide gives you nice simple tips for how to get to exalted so that you too can ride the winter(saber.)

I have zero rep with this group. Approximately how long will it take to get to exalted to obtain this mount? I have a 70 Warrior.

What? Do people really shun Winterspring? It is one of my very favorite zones, partly because it comes right after the very dismal Felwood.

Hats off to anyone who completes this multi-hundred hour rep grind for a freaking 100 speed mount (that you'll hardly use at 70). Sometimes i really wonder about these rep grinds, the rewards almost always are class-specific. I guess its a way to kill time at 70, though.

I am in the middle of getting this rep done, and yet it sucks, and is super boring, but it is hard which makes it worth doing.
idk if it is slow, it looks awesome and no one has one. I am all over it, and I not even 70 yet.

@3: It's the only 100 speed mount that doesn't require 150 riding skill.
@OP: Exactly how is the rep grinding being "revamped"? What's the current/future rep per turn-in?

Also, for hunters using the same model cat, gives a cool effect when mounting/dismounting: kind of like those worg riders that dismount from their worg and then they both attack you... :) And when the fight is over, you "mount" your pet! Or at least it looks like!

Yeah, I'd also like to know how this repuation grind is going to be "revamped"?

MMO-Champion reported (http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=2076.0) that the reputation you receive from the Frostsaber Provisions quest on the PTR has been increased by 75 to 250 a turn in.

i just couldn't get myself to do this rep in vanilla WoW -- the endless riding back and forth just drove me insane. so i wound up doing it earlier this year at 70 (and after i maxed all my outland factions).
crusader aura was just wonderfully useful (it amounts to 90s less traveling time round trip)and if no one is around, you can clear quest completes pretty efficiently.
one side note: i made a mint mining thorium during this stretch. dunno how hot thorium still is, but it made things a bit more passable for me.

I'm still annoyed that they never finished implementing the Ravasaur mounts for Horde (which would be the equivalent to the Wintersabers). Then again, I was under the impression that they were planning on making the Wintersabers and the Ravasaurs neutral mounts so the factions could eventually get different mounts instead of hoping for that oh-so-low drop rate from the bosses in Zul'Gurub for one.

Honestly, this is just bullshit. I mean, how many people have you seen on these things? They've always been a "badge of effort" reward. Pointless, but still a rare reward.
Now? Yeah. You could do it inside of a weekend. I'll have gone from doing 5 quest runs a hour for 750 rep to getting 2500 rep in that same time frame.
Slap in the face to anyone who completed it.

I call BS on the fact that its alliance only. The horde deserves our own faction mount

If your not an extremely patient soul - don't bother. In 2.3 they did buff the rep recieved per turn-in (250 per quest instead of 75) - but its still a lot of grinding.
from nothing to honored its like 190 quest turnins - quest in question has a drop rate of less than 30%.
I figure the only reason Blizzard put this in there is that you get an epic mount that only requires 75 skill to ride. Thing is - if you're going to do over a thousand quest turn-ins (its like almost a thousand from revered to honored if I recall) - you could have easily grinding all the money for epic mount/training anywhere else.
