A few hours ago, Eyonix posted on the WoW forums regarding another change to the Hunter skill Aimed Shot in patch 2.3. The ability, which has already gained a healing debuff akin to Mortal Strike, will now also have a reduced cast time. The shot will now take a flat 3 seconds to perform, which is a half a second drop from its previous time of 3.5 seconds. In addition, Eyonix also mentioned that the developers are monitoring the ability's effectiveness and may further reduce the cast time after 2.3 goes live.
As is often the case on the WoW forums, there is a rather large outcry over this change, the latest in a series of buffs to hunters. In discussing and defending the change, Eyonix suggests that the developers are trying to make this skill more appealing to the class in addition to helping them be more viable in PvP overall. What are your thoughts on the subject?

This is just getting rediculous, buffing the classes that are already overrepresented and nerfing the classes that are underrepresented.

Sounds like a reasonable change for hunter PVP. As for me, I don't personally care- I stopped PVP'ing long ago as I tired of the countless small flaws that undermine an otherwise solid system. Hear that people, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU CAN LEAVE!!!

@1 so by your opinion they should only buff the least played classes, instead of trying to obtain viablity for each class in each aspect of the game? nice QQing

Not sure whether this will actually go through or not but I'm glad to see that something I spent a talent point in will actually give me a worthwhile skill instead of just being taken because its a prereq to getting mortal shots.

It's funny, but if I may remember correctly, hunter populations are even with mages, and less than warriors.

@10 - Total population from all servers ranging in all levels ranks Hunters as #1.

Why is it that balance always seems to be done on the back of healers?
Hunters new ranged mortal strike too hard to get off? lets make it cast faster? Still to hard? have a little more!
Apparently all it takes to be "viable in the arena" is to be able to make healers hate their lives.

I don't think a 3s cast time is gonna solve much.
It might change things significantly in the already sorta unbalanced 2v2 bracket, where you can't guarantee that you've got someone on the other side with a way to quickly get into the hunter's dead zone, but almost all 3v3 and 5v5 teams have a warrior who can quickly get in the face of any hunter. Get someone in the hunter's face, everyone else get out of LOS, and a 3s cast time isn't gonna help them a lot.
It's definitely not like locks, where they dot dot dot and constantly stay out of LOS and wait for you to bleed out.

@4 No, we should try to attain some sort of balance, instead of exacerbating imbalance.

Yeah this probably will see the most of its effects in the arena. The hunters will probably be very effective healer killers.

From an altaholic perspective, this is going to unhinge 30-60 PVP. Between this, the Aimed Shot buff, and the dead zone buff, Hunters will eat Mages, Priests, Shamans, and Paladins alive.

Paladins?
I think paladins are pretty safe from hunters.

I get the impression that lots of folks are missing the point. Hunters are frequently at the top of BG/PvE damage and, in general, a great PvP class. This change is FOR ARENA AND ARENA ONLY.
It's irrelevant to say that hunters are the most-played class. They're the least represented in top arena teams and that's because, if you've cracked into the 1600 area, you begin to find that class combination trumps skill/gear in many cases. There are notable exceptions to this, but hunters are at the bottom of the pile in top tier arena teams. Period.
In other words, this is a buff, but only to arena. It's not going to be a factor in any other area of the game and it remains to be seen whether or not it will be an actual factor in the arena. Most of the people I've talked to seem to think it won't be, but we'll see...

i play a hunter, and i realy like the buffs that hunts have been getting, but i realy dont agree with it. i do agree with everyone else that hunters are OP and dont deserve these buffs because theyre doing perfectly fine as is...wait, no not perfectly fine. theyre too good. espicaly the BM tree as we all know its like having 2 people instead of one, and 4 when beastial wrath goes up (if youre gear is good enough and you know what youre doing you can work it out to take down a target damn near instantly)

I cant' say that I saw this coming but I am definetly looking forward to it.
I do however think that it will only be a very minor buff to hunter viability in arena though considering that the mechanics of the arena are very unfavorable. Better than nothing I suppose.
People have a pretty misconstrued view of the hunter class as far as PvP and PvE goes. We are easily out DPS'd by mages, locks and rogues in raiding and are THE most under-represented class in highly rated arena teams.
To say that Hunters are overpowered already is absolutely ridiculous and shows how little someone knows about the game.
I think they get this impression from a seeming Hunter dominance in battlegrounds but the truth is, battlegrounds are totally meaningless and is not necessarily a representation of the class as a whole. Gear from battlegrounds are basically welfare epics for many people.
