SO blizz has increases the g cost of Gbanks for the first few tabs [but reduced it over all]

1st slot - 100 Gold
2nd slot - 250 Gold
3rd slot - 500 Gold
4th slot - 1000 Gold
5th slot - 2500 Gold
6th slot - 5000 Gold

Basically. thats an extra 700g TAX for all guilds.

The Old prices

1st tab = 1 for 98 slots
2nd tab = 11g for 196slots
3rd tab = 111g for 294 slots

None but the richest guilds would have baught the 5th tab

3rd tab = 294 for 850g [w/alts 244slots for 111g]
4th tab = 392 for 1850g [w/alts 366slots for 333g]
5th tab = 490 for 4350g [w/alts 488slots for 444g]

[Alt bankers 24 bank + 7 slots with 14 bags = 122 slots for 111g {no cost of bags added}]

@ 4350g most guild STILL wont be buying the 5th tab. But when you buy the 3rd tab you have already paid the 700g Tax, so you might as well grab the 4th tab.

Summary: Old Price made gbank cheaper than banking alts. New price there is a 700g tax to prevent gbank alts.

1] WTF is wrong with having a gbank alt. It isn't like we are going to confuse newbs with all the bankalt guilds. After we register the charter that's it. Not any different then the alt or vanity guilds EVERYONE makes.

2] YTF is it preferable to have bank alts. I have never understood blizz's reasoning that there was some thing preferable about a bunch of lvl 1 bank alts hanging out at the AH / mailbox in IF/SW. You aren't saving database by limiting our storage space. We just create bank alts which just creates and storesw a bunch of superfluous information just so we can have storage space. [though I never bothered with a bank alt until you forced us to go back to azeroth.]

3] Gbank alt = 2 tabs 196 slots for 350g. PLUS 122slots for 111g [bank+bags]

= 318slots for 461g [w/alts 488slots for 444g but requires 4 alts, easy for guilds annoying for players]

So basically many geniune guilds would be better off with bank alts [and duckie bank mod]. Gbank alts will still be worth it for people willing to spend gold on convience.

Considering the tactic everyone wanted to use of turning their mules into giant bank mules - it makes perfect sense why they'd increase the costs of the first 3 tabs.

And seeing as most 70 members in a guild will have or will be saving up 5000g for their own epics, the cost of 2 epics for a full guild-worth of banking space is really really cheap when spread among your members.

For most guilds, this isn't cheaper. Before, they could get the first 3 slots for 111 gold. Now they have to pay almost 8 times as much.

Yet, guilds that will pay for the last two slots now would have done so anyway with the old price.

So yeah.. for most guilds, guild banks just got a lot more expensive.

Yeah, I figured they would be increasing the low end, in reaction to the planned mass creation of mule guilds, but it still makes me sad. I might actually have to go do some quests to get the extra cash, assuming I don't have any left over from buying my hippogryph.

I'm not seeing where the problem with prices is coming in for most guilds. Say you only have ten members pitching in to cover the cost, thats only 935g per. For a guild that's in a position to *need* all 6 pages that's what? like a week's farming if that. Big deal.

Argh. This sucks. Will make it much more of an investment for small guilds to have a guild bank. Well, at least the first two tabs are somewhat cheap.

Is that stack of Arcane Dust for the guild really worth it?

If your guild can't manage a meager amount of coin like that, chances are you don't have that much stuff to store.

10k gold is absolutely nothing for any serious raiding guild.

What's the big deal? Bosses drop gold... Lets say your a small 10man raid group. Divide into two 5 mans and each go kill Onyxia. She drops about 200g, there you just made 400g in about 15min for your guild to buy the first couple slots with no money out of anyone's pocket. For a guild of that size the slots you get out of 2 tabs should be excessive. If your guild is larger make more groups.

The pricing of the guild bank slots definitely favours the larger guilds - you can have members from the guild put in some G to buy the slots and it's not too bad.

Say you have a competent end-game raiding guild, you're going to have AT LEAST 25 people plus replacements, spare classes, maybe even just some non raidsquad members who want to be able to use the bank. Splitting the whole lot across 50 people is hardly any trouble at all.

But if you've got a small raiding guild, or a casual social guild where people aren't farming huge cash and/or spending whatever they make on mats and things, and a guild bank doesn't look like it'll be a reality.

Personally when I saw the system announced, and the prices for the slots, I was a bit stunned. I was naive to think it would be 'free' to an extent and maybe extra space buyable, I just didn't realise you had to pay for every slot. Here's hoping they have at least a little rethink about the prices before 2.3 is released.

Looks great. Price is high enough that most people won't have them on their bank alts, and low enough so that small guilds can afford the extra bag space they need.

Remember, nobody's holding a gun to your guild's collective head, forcing you to buy the really expensive slots. Fill up the ones you can afford, and then see if you really need more. Most guilds won't need more than 2 or 3. Besides, we've all been making do just fine so far.

What is this, the tenth topic on this? Anyways I really don't think lots of guilds will really need all the tabs, but even if they did, they are probally in the very end game where people in the guild could farm and pool money together pretty easy

Gold sellers are still laughing their arses off. Gold sells are expected to rise the first week after 2.3. And they shall not be disappointed either.

Sure, you can grind dailies for money, but why aren't people doing that? I spend two or three hours on Netherwing Ledge for funsies every day, and I don't see twenty different characters duting that time, so apparently not as many as one might expect are actually farming that gold. Why? They don't have to! Why spend two hours farming for 120 gold, when you can buy 1000:s for pocket change anyway?

Blizzard, once again you have failed. Guild bank slots could have been the reward from a guild-event, or a guild-quest, or even a guild-farm for reputation. But you chose the easy way, and now the gold sellers are laughing all the way to the bank. Face it, Blizzard, the battle is over and you lost.

But then again, Blizzard makes a ton of wad from all the gold farmers still. Why should they bother? All their pr-crap about banning accounts is a load of BS and we know that as well. Blizzard will support gold farming/selling as long as they get their piece of the cake.

Your insight from your one character that you play on your one server, and how it related to the hundreds of servers that blizzard runs, the millions of people they control and the hundreds of thousands of accounts they ban for gold selling, is amazing.

Just have 30 members take an hour a day for 3 days and do the daily quests. This will get you well over 10k gold for the guild bank.

Well, first of all, I play several acounts, on several servers with several active characters. But that's beside the point. However, I can speak from experience from more than a dozen realms, something I am rather certain you cannot. But that is also beside the point.

Fact remains: Gold sellers exist and they flourish. Blizzard could stop all the gold spam in one blow - by stopping trial accounts - but they won't, since they don't care about us as long as they get their money. As long as there are gold sellers, there will be farmers and players, and Blizzard's chests will ever grow. And adding yet another money sink will lead to one thing, and one thing only - more money for Blizz, since the gold sellers' market will florish even more. And to get the product, gold, the farmers will keep running free and generate even more money for Blizz. It's an evil circle and you know it. Blizzard's talk about not supporting the gold selling is BS and you know that as well. The difference between us is that I dare to speak my opinion whereas you look away. See no evil, hear no evil. Right?

Like I said in my previous post, Blizzard could have solved this in another way, but chose not to.

800g is a weeks worth of dailies for one person. in terms of the money generation power of TBC, it still amounts to chump change. i can't seriously believe people are whining about this change. it's still a whole lot of storage consolidation that one can perform fwith very little hassle. if you can't swing it, don't.
