I sure thought that Badges of Justice were here to stay (especially since Blizzard has been ramping up where they're used and what they buy), but maybe that's not the case. When a player asks if they'll still be around in Northrend, Neth says it's not a sure thing, and that's a lot less certain than I thought I was.I really don't think Blizzard will abandon the turn-in system entirely-- although Badges are a little different than they've ever done it before (and yes, they probably do need a little tweaking in how they're given out), the system works. It gives people a reason to run instances, and it lets you choose what you want to run, and then choose the loot that you want from that run. Token-based loot, in general, is so far a great alternative to the drop or the quest system.
However, I can definitely see Blizzard moving on to some new tokens. Maybe as WotLK comes out, they'll just spread these Badges around more and more, making the Heroic loot more and more easy to get, and then when we reach Northrend, the next iteration of token loot will go back to being much more rare.

They should put tokens linked to different bosses in different instances.
For example : Boss X drops Token X, Boss Y Drops Token Y, Boss Z Drops Token Z
For different items you would receive a different requirement 3 X Tokens, 10 Y Tokens, 5 Z Tokens.
That would force Blizzard to keep the token system and encourage players to variety instead of running the same instance over and over and over again.
Just my 2 cents.

Why would you assume that badges of justice, that drop from level 70 instances, would be available to buy level 80 gear? That would be like using Argent Dawn tokens to purchase badges of justice gear. They'll probably keep the token system though.

@3 It may not be Mike's point, but the wording of the linked post was specifically about re-using the current BoJs that drop in level 70 Heroics. In which case, the obvious answer would (and should) be no, which is what the Blizzard poster responded with.
WotLK Heroics/10-mans having their own token equivalent is a different story and probably a good idea to continue with in the future, and I doubt Blizzard will abandon that idea.

Yes, I don't see why running level 70 instance (when at level 80) would give me level 80 rewards...
That would really be "welfare epics"...

The problem with the badges as they're currently implemented is that players just run the easiest heroic instances and completely avoid the more challenging ones. While hopefully future heroics will have a more uniform level of difficulty, it'd be nice if there was a reason to run a variety of different dungeons.

I'm sure they just don't want someone who has been saving BoJ's for a whole year to buy all the cool new lvl 80 epix as soon as they ding 80.
Same system, different badges.

Whoot first, but I like the heroic badge system and the loot its offering from there. I think blizz should really look into keeping that type of system around for those people that can't really get into raiding parties or stuff like that!
