MMO Champion has reported that new "Specialty Ammunition Vendors" have been discovered on the PTR in patch 2.3. These vendors, Archer Delvinar and Marksman Bova, can be found in once empty structures in the Scryer and Aldor areas, respectively, in Shattrath City. Not only do they sell the best types of normal vendor ammunition outside of Halaa, but they also stock ammunition that has reputation requirements. Instead of running over to the Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh every time you need to stock up on Warden's Arrows, you can now buy the same ammo in Shattrath. The same vendors also carry ammunition that is currently only available from vendors in Honor Hold/Thrallmar and the Caverns of Time. Currently the cost of all the ammunition sold by these vendors appears to be tied to Aldor/Scryer reputation level, but still requires the specified faction requirement to actually purchase and use.
Of course, the best news is that these vendors also carry a new type of ammunition. The Mysterious Arrows and Mysterious Shells require revered reputation with the Violet Eye and provide 46.5 additional damage per second. A stack of 200 costs 1 gold without any price reductions from reputation.
Clearly these new items are meant to fill the gap between Adamantite and Timeless ammunition and help hunters that are tackling Magtheridon, Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep increase their damage output. With the new Adamantite Stingers also being added 2.3, hunters will have more options than ever before when choosing a type of ammunition.

So why does the screenshot shows them as costing 80pa ?

I would guess because the purchaser is exalted, making it a 20% discount now.
Of course, you can never buy them less than revered, so 85s is the highest price you'd ever see.

You say 80pa, but it says 80s. What is this pa currency you speak of?

@3 he must be french, pa = "pièce d'argent" = silver.
@1 "A stack of 200 costs 1 gold without any price reductions from reputation." = "Une pile coute 1po sans les réductions de réputation", c'est à dire que si tu as les réductions ça fait 80 pa :)

How do extremely expensive, PvE reputation-based bullets make hunters OP? You think anything less than the most obsessive people (who beat you anyway) are going to spend 20+g on a full quiver just to waste them at you?
BTW, every time people like you yell OP, you're potentially ruining the game for a PvE player. Learn to beat hunters, with or without +3.5 DPS.
"Overpowered" crying is equivalent to a soccer mom screaming that there is no “knee pads” legislation in place to prevent children from skinning their knees while playing! If enough of you scum come out of the woodwork, we’ll all be running around wearing dorky knee pads. Man up and stop sucking and minor tweaks won’t affect the delicate balance of your weak play style.

Yes because ammo put in the game for PvE that only the best of the best will use is so OP.
Yeah right.
This is really a disappointment to the average hunter as he will never get to use any of this ammo. But at least it lets all the 'chicken littles' QQ more about how the sky is falling.

I see this as a great addition. The cost is something I could care less about. Gold is so easy to get you should always carry the best ammo when possible.
The only downside I see it in is that Engineer created ammo went from being cheap and stack of 5 for carrying extra on the PTR to useless. I can't justify farming mats for ammo when the Shat vendor has better stuff. Revered in Kara is a short grind.

I love this! I totally agree with Spenda. Oh and if you think it'll cost too much just do your dailys. That'll cover the cost of ammo

As an engineer, this makes me a little sad. I was looking forward to making the ammo gizmos for myself and the rest of the hunters in my raids, esp since 1k ammo stacks in 1 slot and even with the bigger quiver/pouches, I know people are still going to carry a few extras.... But now it'll be all Mysterious all the time. Oh well.

Any hunter that doesn't have the most effective arrows/ammo they are allowed to buy are choosing to be subpar. They should not be allowed in groups because they arent doing their part. Bitching about ammo cost is just as rediculous as when tanks bitch about repairs. It comes with the class you chose.
And for the hunters that dont see how this is a big deal: you clearly dont realize what a significant contribution ammo has to your dps. This is huge for hunters. As a PvE hunter I care about this more than the mortal strike and the deadzone.

Once again not all hunters are PvE Hunters.
When chicken little QQ's 9 times out of 10 it is about PvP.
Not everyone who enjoys PvP is going to be willing to stop doing what they enjoy (pvp) to grind rep in PvE just to get better ammo. The cost is nothing to be concerned about.

As a Hunter with mining and engineering, this is big for me. But I won't be stocking the Violet Eye bullets for everyday use - they're friggin expensive. My dailies money goes to pots, elixers, repairs and if I get a little extra – well then I get a break from dailies for a night. I'll be using the engineer-crafted arrows which are nothing less than absolutely free and trivial for me to craft a full 24-slot quiver (5 adamantite bars, 10 fel iron bars... aka 15 minutes in nagrand). 43 DPS is just fine for the majority of fights, and I'll probably keep my bottom row stacked up with these VE arrows for the tougher boss fights. The engineering arrows are already a +6 DPS bonus for me, and the additional +3.5 DPS will be great on bosses like aran, prince, nightbane and 25-man raid bosses.

@13:
They already need to do the PvE thing to get the best arrows /ammo(Timeless). This does nothing to change that, except that it will make better arrows/ammo to more people (less hunters are grinding rep from Hyjal than from Kara).

@15. You miss my point friend.
As a PvP Hunter, they may not be willing to do the rep grind for timeless.
As a Pvp Hunter, they may not be willing to do the rep grind for Mysterious.
Since most QQ about Hunters is about PVP, this is nothing to QQ about (which was the tone of some of the previous comments).

So has anybody actually found the new ammo vendor after 2.3 went live? Or was this something only the PTR had??
