Beaux on the US forums showed everyone how, in patch 2.3, Blizzard has modified the tauren cat form's face to look more like a lion and less like a monkey, and changed the neck of the lion so that it doesn't look so hunchbacked as it moves. It's not as pretty as the tauren cat form suggestion submitted in Blizzard's art contest, but it'll do for now I would think.
[Update]: Our reader tmklein supplied us with some interesting links for what the EU player Andrige thought the various forms should look like -- all with a distinct visual style. Would you like this sort of change?
- Dire Bear Forms
- Worgen Forms (to replace cat form? I don't know about this one...)
- Travel Forms

The new model's texture looks a bit less thrown together, it's still kind of crappy though.
I think all player "specialty models" such as druid and shaman forms could use a rehaul all together. Keep the theme, but make them look less like rehashed mobs.
Though 70% of the players would all bitch and moan about it anyway.
At least they're working on things they don't HAVE to, that's always promising when it comes to graphic adjustments.

i don't typically watch my catform face while fighting mobs.
i tend to be watching from behind.
had i not seen this post i almost guarantee i never would have noticed the change in 2.3 because the difference is so small its hardly a change at all.

you are insane if you think the art design for the druid cat form looks anywhere near good.
what a waste of time to submit that.

Take off the stupid looking horns and you'd have something, I mean really. Change the look to more of a barrens lion or mulgore lion.

I was talking to guildies about how Ghost Wolf is such a weird spell for shamans, considering its original iteration in WC3 was a pair of summonables and the Spirit Walker's phase shifted form.
If Ghost Wolf had a jumpy "Ethereal" animation to its movement, or had the old Windfury proc animation, it could get away with being considered an "Air" element spell, but right now, it's just a sore thumb.
Back onto Druids. Boring change. Give the tauren something beautiful or don't give them anything. Back to the drawing boards Blizz.

Uuugh, while their at fixing forms, they should tinker with ToL form. Why do we have dried out yellow leaves and the ugliest damn face on any tree I've seen. I don't need to be some hawt svelt birch or poplar, but come on!

I totally agree. I recently started playing a Shaman seriously(this time..), and since we're in wolf form a lot, I kept wishing it were more ethereal. Wispy, floaty! Not just a wolf mob with transparency. :(
Oh well, I gave up on graphic updates such as these back in pre-Luclin Everquest when they added new idle animations and then removed them from the female models only.
Blizzard has a high standard though, so I can at least hope in the background.

Would you want to play if your rogue or priest just looked like some NPC walking around in Stormwind? You'd play at first but after a while, you'd get bored of seeing the same old thing. I would love to see more detailed druid models. They're still the same old plain-jane models from the beginning.

This isn't even worthy of a post on the forums, let alone on WI. Seriously if they changed the model, and the entire texture it would but its just got a face like a gnome sneaked up and stuck something up its arse.

The changes are so minimal that even I, a hard-core Druid lover sees little to be excited about.
While I'm glad that Blizzard decided to read the Suggestion Forums in regards to what players want, and actually decided to listen and make a change, I'm still feeling quite disappointed.
The face still looks like a retarded monkey. A simple 'nip-and-tuck' won't cure that cat-ugly disease. I say they use the same Night-Elf cat model, give it some savannah coloring, and add the famous horn-stub to that. The Lynx model that Night-Elves use is much preferrable than this rotting baboon carcass we Horde Druids have to suffer with.
And yes, cosmetics mean everything to players. The reason the old Beta Tauren and Troll female models were changes to their form today is based on pure cosmetics. Players hate finding out they have an 'ugly form' at level 20. Yuck.
