If I'm going to go to all the trouble to tab out and bring up Firefox, that add-on won't save me any time. What they need to make, and I know I'm not alone here, is a browser you can get to in-game.

@2 Just run in windowed mode with firefox open at all times, or run with a second comp if you can.

Windowed mode works best on a mac though. being able to tile all of your windows instantaneously and then just click all the ones you want to bring to the front is amazing. Gogogo Fn+f9. Yay!

No need for alt-tabbing if you run in Windowed mode and use dual monitors.

Good 19" TFT are really cheap these days, and I don't think any graphics adapter worth its name that has been sold the last 4 years does NOT have support for dual monitors.

How nice. You can already add it to IE BTW.

Just click on the arrow next to the search bar in IE7 and select "Find More Providers..."

On the right side of the page is a box where you can add ANY site search that you want. To add the armory. Just put in this URL:

http://www.wowarmory.com/search.xml?searchQuery=TEST&searchType=all

Give it a name and hit save. Easy peasy!

A while ago I got irritated at having to search through the list of all similarly named characters across every server whenever I only cared about my server. I wrote a quick and dirty search bar plugin for Firefox that will only return characters from my server, The Underbog.

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yourprofile\searchplugins and create a text file called "armory.src" (or whatever.src) and insert the following:

on the second to last line with the name of your server. For example, for Uther the line would like:



Don't forget to replace a space in the server name with a + sign. When Firefox is restarted hit control+k to get to the search bar and then control+down until you see a blank document icon and type in a character name. You'll immediately be taken to the profile of that character on your server. This is immensely helpful when you're searching a long /who list for a specific spec. It's possible to make or download a 16x16 gif to replace the generic icon in the search bar but this works well enough for me.

@12: I've been a Web Developer and IE user for a very long time now. For the most part, the arguments are retarded, there's nothing wrong with Firefox. It's my browser of choice on mac. I just happen to think IE7 is better on PC. I just can't help but get defensive when I see uninformed users like yourself spewing rubbish.

There is absolutely nothing inherent in FF that makes it any more or less secure then using IE7. Aside from that unmerited argument, there are some very nice usability enhancements that I like in IE7 over FF, such as giving you several nice options for sorting and switching tabs including the thumbnail view. Not to mention my tip above about adding searching options for any site you choose.

I prefer to use keywords in firefox, rather than depending on that tiny search box addon. To use it just go to a site, right-click on the text box for a search, and "add a keyword for this site". Type what you want it to be called and what the keyword for it will be. For example in my browser when I type in "thott " it brings up the thottbot result for it. I use the same for wowhead, wowwiki, wiki, imdb, dictionary.com, tv rage, youtube, google, the list goes on.
