WoW Moviewatch: Redshift
Here's a cute little story without any of the special effects you see in lots of the machinima people make nowadays. It's an amateur production, but it's somehow all the more lovable for it. Especially having read everyone's comments about why playing through the Horde's side of the WoW story can feel so good, this story reminds me of some of the noble themes people love most about the Horde's story -- unity in diversity, letting go of the past, and moving on with the future.
For those who don't know, the "vrriish!" sound at the end is the sound of a rogue's "sprint" ability being used, enabling him to run at high speeds.

Didn't seem very amateur to me. Great job, good plot and music.

Wow! Unlike most machinima, is managed to be both serious and touching without being an epic drama queen.
Props to the writer!

I thought that was very sweet and well-made, I'm not sure why you felt the need to label it as "amateur" compared to other machanima. Because it's actually filmed on location? I'd think that actually takes more work than using model viewer.

I want the soundtrack!
The story is very nice, I doubt it's really amature...besides there are no random folks in the scene even in a place as busy as UC

I'm glad you all liked this one! I don't mean to call this peace "amateur" in a negative sense. I just mean it doesn't have a lot of flashy special effects like a lot of the machinima coming out these days. It's all just WoW, and the video recording software, and maybe something to make certain scenes red-tinted but that's it. If you can believe it, I meant "amateur" in a positive sense, as if to say "see? you don't need all that flashy stuff anyway."
I'd say it's "amateur" but not "amateurish" or "unprofessional," just like amateur football or something, when you're really good at the game but still not getting paid to play it. Bah, where's my dictionary? Anyways you know what I mean. The script and quality of the acting are definitely awesome and that's what I love most about this one. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

By the way, you'll see that tomorrow's moviewatch (assuming the scheduling doesn't get changed) is by the same people, but in many ways (except the quality) it's the opposite of this one. It has lots of special effects, flashier cinematography, and so on. It definitely looks more "professional," but in looking doing so it loses something of the "amateur" charm that this one has. Both are good -- just different. Wait for it and you'll see what I mean. :)

This was actually made by Sedrin of Slashdance, who is not really an 'amateur' to machinima - although it IS an early piece, created before he won the Atari's music vid contest for "Frame of Mind" and the Blizzcon movie contest (1st in drama) for "Interlude". Do just a little homework before posting please.

It was a good story and had plenty of video edits involved. Good job to Sedrin and grats to them on the Atari project.

Great piece of work, except for one minor detail that bugs me. I thought undeath only works on humans. So technically there are no such things as undead trolls and elves.

Very great job there, enjoyed that one.
@17, there are undead trolls in Eastern Plaguelands, though they are Scourge. Sylvannas, leader of the Forsaken, was once an Elf.
