Blogger Melmoth posed this question last week and the answers just keep getting better:
what if real life had an MMO UI over it? Here are some of his proposed answers:
- I'd probably have low health, but high mana.
- My bag slots would be nearly full all the time.
- I'd be able to scroll back through previous conversations with my boss and prove that I didn't agree to work thirty hours of overtime this week, or any week for that matter.
For me, the highlights would be:
- Putting annoying people on /ignore.
- Having a countdown timer on the boss exploding.
- Never losing my keys.
What would real life be like for you if you had an MMO UI on it?

I'd use a bot script for most things.

"Never losing my keys"
Hah! That's awesome.
I think I would be much more hydrated than I am, because my toon certainly drinks more water than I do.
My rep page would show me at war with the DMV (oh they infuriate me!).
It would be harder to get lost because I'd have a map and the people that I was trying to find would glow brightly for me.
I could put bill collectors and sales people on an ignore list.
My friends and I wouldn't need cell phones because we would have a psychic way of talking to each other at all times no matter where in the world (or out of this world) we were.

I'd have a macros set on the action bar for all of life's little annoyances...like mowing the lawn, working, etc.

I'd pull out my Honda Civic with +280% speed!
Maybe thrown on some spurred-boots, or riding gloves, to increase that a bit...

My cat would be a lot more responsive when I try to get her to attack people if I had a UI.

Hmm my own UI...
I would have both Rage and Mana Bars. Rage can be burned off as emergency mana, but doing so gives me a debuff of "Depression" for about 2 hours. It can be dispelled with either /music or /chinesetakeout.
I would have around 273 writing skill that just will not level up since all my tricks are either green or red and I don't have the mats.
I'd have trees in Disipline, Role Play, and Lore. My points are kind of all over the place, but mostly in the Lore tree. I use mods called "Wikipedia" and "IMDB" to help boost my usefulness there. When I have to use my Disipline skills, I use my "Solid Steel Ruler," a great drop I got in the Walmart 5-Man Instance. It gives me +15 intimidation and has a Use effect to dispell Sleep from pupils.
My Denim Leggings of Black Cloth are holding up pretty well despite two wipes. They give me bonus endurance and comfort. Even though I could upgrade to Khaki Pants of the Professor, I prefer these until I hit the Masters Degree raid atunement quest chain.

Real life already has an equivalent to the /ignore command: 'a baseball bat'. Try it out on the next annoying person you meet!

I'd click on the player obliviously driving 50 mph in the fast lane absorbed in a cell phone call and whisper something to the effect of, "L2Drive" and then say something immature and crass enough for them to apologize and reform their noobish ways of driving forever...

The AH already exists; see eBay.
I'd Report my roommate for spamming chats.
Major cities would have a Queue when travelling.
Profanity filter would break once past the Age/Lvl 10.
God would have an infinite wait-time on all tickets.
The universe would be down Tuesday mornings for several hours.
And finally, the lag would kill us all when driving.

Kiss commuting goodbye. Hearthstone FTW!
I'd love a macro for laundry.
/wash
/dry
/ [wrinkled] iron
/fold
My pet has a little red/yellow/green indicator for happiness, need one of those for my GF so I can mash the /sendflowers button when needed. Need to update that with /use roses or /use mums depending upon the urgency.
Would love something like AutoProfit. One click when I'm at the store and it sells all the useless junk cluttering my bags/closets.
DurabilityFu has an auto repair function that would be mandatory. Every time you go to the cleaners they automatically repair everything. Getting the oil changed automagically restored car to 100%
Omen. Lord don't we all need a threat meter. Would be real easy to curtail that "harmless ribbing" of a co-worker before they aggro you and enrage. Feign death might help here too! Aggro wipe FTW! Might also help in spats with the GF. Seeing the threat level creeping up and decide you don't need to get that last shot in and keep her from hitting the "never forgive" line.
Need a quest tracker. QuestsFu works great in game. Wouldn't you love a heads up quest tracker IRL? Little reminder that pops up in the corner of your view of life telling you to remember to get milk/dinner/detergent or whatever crucial thing you wished you had picked up on the way home.
Possibilities are endless here ...
