Once again MMO Champion comes through with more size changes on the PTR. It's the Night Elves taking the biggest hit this time, not just in their shoulders: now their weapons and shields have also shrunk noticeably. Orc shoulders are back up to their previous sizes and their shields have actually gotten even larger, which I frankly don't think was necessary.
Wow, my night elf is going to be one unhappy dude when he sees how much smaller his weapon just got. Cue the legions of jokes about night elf genitalia, but don't blame me for not playing along, as I am one of the ones stricken by this malady. Luckily, so far my tauren and human haven't been affected by this scourge, but it's really only a matter of time until you see a great white tauren sobbing inconsolably on the steps of the Lower City, his once majestic shoulders and massive sword now itty bitty.

Blizzard don't want to start messing with races now. People have worked hard for their gear and a certin look and to have Blizz shrink them for no reason, will see a huge outcry. I am still a bit pissed that my Draneni's shoulders are a bit smaller. To me they where the answer to the Hordes bigger races only to be nurfed now!

Yes, the shield got smaller but if you look at the scale of the picture you'll see that MMO-Champion is using a cheap optical trick to exaggerate their point.

Yes it does look like the ptr pic is zoomed out just a lil bit more to make the size difference even more noticeable, oh well, as long as they leave blood elves and humans out it ill be fine lol

ok seriously what's up with these changes, they do nothing to the gameplay except upsetting players who obviously are attached to their characters. do some actual work on the content instead of messing around the sizes of armors.

Methinks they're nerfing the BC gear to make all of the WotLK gear look sweeter. Think about it, they can't keep making all of the gear bigger and bigger. So they just ninja nerf it.

Who the #@?$! *IS* it at Blizzard that is sitting there saying:
"You know, the weaponry looks too big. So do epic shoulders. And as long as I'm at it, the epic Shields seem a bit too large as well. Lets shrink all of them down to a more realistic size"
Whoever that is, or whatever group of people are initiating these changes needs to GO AWAY. The only excuse for this that would be reasonable is IF they are looking to the future of the game, and realize that if they increase the size of each new Tier of Armor/Weapons then eventually they'll have painted themselves into a corner so they better start shrinking things NOW before it's too late. IF they are thinking alaong those lines then I can somewhat understand.
Still - just keep things how they are and come up with a different way then pure SIZE to convey the "epic-ness" of high level gear. There are so many things they could do with glows, animations, special effects when 'used' and so on. They need to just stop shrinking existing gear though - this is getting stupid.

Who cares... blizzard has said that the resized equipment on the PTRs are bugs... no need to repost about this and create a new article for everything resized

There isn't any optical trick, each screenshot was taken on a character from the PTR and another character from the live version (and I created them with the exact same face, hair, skin, etc)
If you really want to be sure you can check http://www.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2007/september/ne_shield_trick.jpg
I added 2 small pink lines, the two first lines are the exact same size, so are the two at the bottom.
There is only 2 or 3 pixels of difference at most, because it's not a zoomed picture but a totally different one and I couldn't get the same angle. (also, the light effects are different on each shield because of the angle)
If you just want to be a 100% sure, you can always check in game. ^^

I wish they would fix the size difference of gnomes... My belf's weapon scales to her size, my undead's weapons scales but gnomes are still wielding human sized swords and axes. I dont get it.
Also how the hell does a gnome rouge backstab anybody suprisingly? I mean comon' they're head barely comes to my waste.

OMGAWWWD!!! They shrunk my shoulders. QQ.
It's a game. It's the stats that matter after all, not what it looks like. It's VR, not reality. Get a grip, people.

I think in gnomes it should be called 'buttstab'.

They didn't make the Orc items "even bigger", the Orc items shrank when their shoulders did, and they're undoing both of those in 2.2...

Erica, if visuals don't matter to you... I strongly suggest you dump your WoW folder and download a copy of Zork.
What an incredibly stupid comment.

Here is a novel idea for Blizzard... stop messing around with the item graphics and release the Patch already.
Why... seriously, they know they are just going to have to reverse it when everyone complains. They did it for the orcs, they will do it for everyone.
Problem with armor and items, just change the new ones you add, and worry about it in Wrath Expansion. Jeez.

I think this is part aof a big conspiracy by Gnomes to gradually shrink everyone to their size, in order to stamp out gnome punting for good.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand the obsession with comparing the PTR to the live realms either. Its clear blizzard has a bug somewhere, and they'll deal with it or not... but it isn't a conspiracy and (except for those who really need their e-peens stroked badly) it isn't a big deal.
Get over it.

It looks to me that either the images were shot in very different qualities, or the PTR does look cleaner, less blurry than the Live one. Isn't that pretty much what blizzard said they were doing? Improving existing and future content graphically? Perhaps these size changes are a side effect of those improvements?
